IPL 2026 Live Score for MI vs. LSG: Rickelton and Rohit condemn LSG to a sixth consecutive loss

May 4, 2026, 4:11 PM

Battle to survive

The Mumbai Indians (MI) were regarded by several analysts as one of the strongest teams for the 2026 Indian Premier League. They got off to a strong start, chasing down 221 with five balls remaining against the Kolkata Knight Riders. MI won their opening IPL match for the first time since 2012. With just two victories from nine games and their chances of making the playoffs hanging in the balance, they are currently ranked No. 9 on the points table, making all of that a faraway memory.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who will play them on Monday at Wankhede Stadium, are likewise in a similar predicament. They won two of their first three games this season, but they have already lost five straight. The LSG seamers have been among the best in the competition, but none of their hitters have performed better than Nicholas Pooran. Pooran, who was demoted from his typical No. 3 position, has only managed to score 82 runs at a strike rate of 81.18 in eight innings.

Their trinity of speeds. Even though the team is at the bottom of the points table, Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav have come together to form a cohesive unit that covers all bases. Sruthi Ravindranath delves deeply into their prosperous season.

Pooran or Inglis?

Josh Inglis has joined LSG, as you may recall. However, there is currently no clear indication as to whether he will play before Nicholas Pooran. Before going to the ground, LSG typically gives debutants hats. It is acknowledged that this hasn't occurred today. Who knows, though?

May 4, 2026, 6:42 PM

Hardik isn't on the ground?

I'm supposed to comprehend this. We'll soon find out. Toss will arrive in eighteen minutes. Additionally, there are hints that Rohit Sharma might return. Will Jacks, who opened alongside Ryan Rickelton in the previous game, seemed to imply that he might not begin tonight because he was taking throwdowns earlier.

May 4, 2026, 6:55 PM

Josh Inglis will make his debut

He just got here a few days ago after getting married. Additionally, Mitch Marsh, an Australian teammate, gives him his cap. Who goes out for LSG, I wonder? It makes sense that it would be Nicky P. Suryakumar Yadav who is preparing to toss as I write this. This virtually guarantees that Hardik won't be playing in the XII tonight.

Hardik and Rohit are absent; MI bowl

Rohit Sharma rejoined the XII after missing the previous five games owing to a hamstring injury, while Hardik Pandya missed out due to back spasms. For the record, the Mumbai Indians chose to bowl first against the Lucknow Super Giants in a match between Nos. 9 and 10 at Wankhede Stadium after Suryakumar Yadav won the toss.

In Hardik's absence, MI made several changes, including the addition of all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa for his first game of the season. Along with Rohit, who is expected to be the Impact Player, Corbin Bosch and Deepak Chahar replaced Robin Minz and Trent Boult.

Josh Inglis, an Australian batsman whom LSG signed for INR 8.6 crore, made his debut for the team right out of the airport. The thrilling Madhya Pradesh batsman Akshat Raghuwanshi also created room for Mukul Choudhary, the uncapped finisher. Pant stated that their impact sub will be determined later.

LSG has just returned from a week-long sabbatical filled with "reflections" according to Pant. "We've had a bad season, and we can't avoid it, but our owner, Mr. Goenka, has had the worst time.

Everyone is aware of his intense love for both his team and cricket. However, we also disappointed our supporters. The only commitment we have made during this hiatus is to give it our all in an effort to restore that joy. Hopefully, we will be able to do so for our owner and the fans.

LSG has a game in hand, while MI has two victories.

Marsh is moving

A short ball from Deepak Chahar is forcefully pushed in front of the square for a six. For four, the entire ball is banged down the ground. He ends the first over with four nice balls in between.

Conversely, Marsh ends a 10-run second over by hitting a full toss from Bumrah straight down the ground for four. Josh Inglis hit a lovely little whip past square leg for four off his very first ball of the season.

LSG 21/0

AM Ghazanfar attacks

After being hit for two fours to begin his spell, he retaliates by taking a wicket with his third ball. Inglis is off balance as he rocks back to pull and toe-ends a straightforward catch to mid-on as the shortish throw goes through much faster than he anticipates.

LSG achieved their fastest fifty of the season in just 3.5 overs. 32 of those have been hit by Marsh. Additionally, Pooran is batting at number three for the first time this season.

May 4, 2026, 7:54 PM

Nicky P goes six, six, six

He has had trouble scoring runs. He had a high of 22 (off 25 balls) in eight games this season before this one. However, he's already tied his season's best off just eight balls the first time he gets a chance at three. The three sixes he hits off Will Jacks, all on the leg side, account for eighteen of those. When they had the option to change course, LSG supported him during his difficulties. Perhaps a long, dark tunnel is finally coming to an end with some light.

May 4, 2026, 8:06 PM

The party of Poorans

Pooran needs 16 deliveries to score his first half-century of the year.

Of all the batters who have faced at least 50 balls this season, Pooran had the lowest strike rate (81) before this game. In eight games, he had hit four sixes in total. Pooran ends with eight sixes before dying for 63 off 21 to Corbin Bosch in the Wankhede, which offers batters countless opportunities these days.

In 8.1 overs, LSG 123/2

Pant is unable to cash in

W 0 1w 0 1 W 2nb

The goalie receives an inside-edge from him, but he is unable to get his gloves completely underneath the ball. Before reaching the right decision, the third umpire takes his time. They don't get Pant, but later in the over, Bosch gets Marsh by pulling right down the neck of deep midwicket. That double-wicket over has the ability to alter the innings' momentum.

Pant, on the other hand, is still having a bad season. He is gone for fifteen after getting a bottom-edge cut.

The arrival of a new six-hitter

When Madhya Pradesh won their first Ranji title in the 2022–2023 season, he emerged as a fantastic new star. His senior team opportunities have been few and far between, but the MP T20 League has served as his IPL launching pad. Akshat Raghuwanshi, as ambitious as the man he replaced, Mukul Choudhary, smacks his maiden IPL ball for six over long-on off Will Jacks. Amazing stuff.

May 4, 2026, 8:36 PM

"Who is Akshat Raghuwanshi?"

I haven't seen a more gifted player at the age of 21. I'm crossing my fingers. "Big things are in store for him in the future," senior Venkatesh Iyer said of top-order batsman Raghuwanshi, who, while not topping the run tallies, was the MPT20 League's best batter.

He might be the next Priyansh Arya-like IPL sensation, according to scouts and coaches. When Raghuwanshi hit 105 off 45 balls against Bhopal Leopards, everyone had to pay attention. In four innings, he struck at 177 and scored 239 runs. Raghuwanshi's career has suffered after he participated in MP's Ranji Trophy-winning campaign in 2022. However, there is optimism for a better future because of his recent white-ball performances.

May 4, 2026, 8:37 PM

A rookie receives another

The legspinner Raghu Sharma was dismissed for six off his opening ball, but his second over's opening ball is even more noteworthy. It's his first wicket in the IPL. He tricks Raghuwanshi as he's in flight by managing a gentle inside-edge onto the pad while a catch lobs back to the bowler. Here, LSG is collapsing badly—160 for 5 in the 13th. Markram is joined in the centre by Himmat Singh. This is the final recognised pair from LSG. They could have to call in an Impact Sub like Shahbaz Ahmed if they lose another one fast.

May 4, 2026, 9:02 PM

LSG surpasses its finest season

With three overs left, 205 LSG had exceeded their season-high.

Himmat Singh is now 24 off 18 after being saved from a Bumrah no-ball when he was 2 off 4. The two have put on 46 off 31 balls, with Markram on 27. Every handy run. MI might still pay a price for that lost chance. They might have needed to use Shahbaz Ahmed as an impact substitute if that wicket had been taken. As a result of this collaboration, LSG may now call upon a qualified four-overs bowler.

May 4, 2026, 9:18 PM

Outstanding finish from MI

With just one boundary in the final three overs, LSG ends with 228 for 5 instead of what appeared to be 250.

May 4, 2026, 9:42 PM

MI away, Rickelton away

When Rohit tosses his hands at a length ball that is angling away, a thick edge sails over Himmat Singh at slip for four. Ryan Rickelton plays a wonderful pick-up for six over square leg one ball later. Mohsin Khan was under pressure practically right away. In two overs, MI 21/0.

Prince Yadav gets off to a great start

MI 50/0 in five overs. The over is only worth six.

May 4, 2026, 10:05 PM

Rohit accelerates

0 4 4 6 6 1

If Prince Yadav's fifth over was excellent, Avesh Khan's sixth over would have been disastrous. It's all happening: Rohit is whipping full tosses, imperiously flicking, and casually stepping out to go over the off-side. In six overs, MI 71/0.

May 4, 2026, 10:17 PM

Rickelton and Rohit reached their fifties

He scored an amazing century the previous time he batted here. Here he is now, setting the stage for an impending chase.

After hitting M Siddharth over wide long-on, Rohit reaches his maximum off 27 balls.

In 8.1 overs, MI 104/0.

May 4, 2026, 10:24 PM

Is M Siddharth a spinner or a left-arm seamer?

He's just floating them up right now. On a deck with good bounce and red soil, it's not exactly the recipe. And in his second over, he is dismissed for 23. In nine overs, MI scored 121/0.

May 4, 2026, 10:32 PM

Rickelton fails, but MI is on track

The fact that the LSG camp did not celebrate Rickelton's dismissal tells you something. He knocks one hard and flat to the man at the ring's edge at cover after choosing Mohsin for a four and two sixes. In 11 overs, he is out for 83 off 32, MI 145/1.

May 4, 2026, 10:58 PM

Tilak and Rohit fell quickly after each other

MI continues to pursue its shots even if the asking rate is firmly under control. Tilak tries to clear long-off but encounters Markram at the ropes, while Rohit chooses short fine in an attempt to go inside the line and sweep. Despite Siddharth's two fast strikes, MI still has the advantage: 40 off 27, with Naman Dhir joining Surya.

May 4, 2026, 11:20 PM

It's all over: MI has finally won

When Nicholas Pooran's savagery 63 off 21 threatened to run the Mumbai Indians down on a night that didn't seem nearly as promising, there were finally smiles.

They reduced damage, giving up just one boundary in the final three overs, to set up a target of 229 after initially seeming destined to concede 250. After missing five games owing to a hamstring injury, Ryan Rickelton and the returning Rohit Sharma put on a thrilling batting effort to destroy the goal in just 18.2 overs.

Rickelton hit 83 off 32 in a 143-run opening partnership after striking 123 not out in his previous innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede last week. Rohit scored 84 off 44 balls after raising his half-century off 27 balls. MI's equation had dropped to 52 off 36 by the time he was out due to a mistimed pick-up shot over short fine leg.

While LSG suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, solidifying their position at the bottom of the points table, MI had overcome a run of three consecutive losses.
