IPL 2026 Live Score: Burger, Archer, and Sooryavanshi defeat CSK

RR smashes CSK

Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings 127 (Overton 43, Jadeja 2-18, Archer 2-19) by eight wickets at 128 for 2 (Sooryavanshi 52, Jaiswal 38*, Kamboj 2-27).

The Chennai Super Kings have a new look and a new IPL season, but their batting problems remain the same.

They were eventually bowled out for 127 against Rajasthan Royals on Monday, and their powerplay score of 41 for 4 was right out of 2025, when they had finished worst in the league. When 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi—four years younger than the IPL itself—clattered a 15-ball half-century, that total appeared to be almost nothing. With eight wickets and nearly as many overs remaining, RR destroyed the target.

After winning a vital toss and choosing to bowl, RR took great use of the moisture on the Guwahati pitch, which was more difficult to bat on in the early exchanges since it had spent a significant amount of time under covers on both match day and match eve. Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer both bowled Test-match lengths to destroy CSK's top order. Then, after 17 years away, Ravindra Jadeja returned to RR with a double-wicket first over. The record books and CSK's attack were then destroyed by Sooryavanshi.

Mar 30, 2026, 10:04 PM

Sooryavanshi is stopped by Sarfaraz

Sarfaraz cuts Sooryavanshi's innings short at 52 off 17 balls by tearing in from deep cover and diving forward to grab this hit. CSK has finally made progress thanks to Kamboj and Sarfaraz, but RR is headed for a significant victory. With nine wickets, they only require 53 in 13.4 overs.

Mar 30, 2026, 9:57 PM

Sooryavanshi hits a fifty off fifteen balls.

Sooryavanshi is still swinging at the CSK attack despite the drop and error. After hitting four fours and three sixes, he quickly reached 38 from 13 balls. Henry's scythed six off a slower ball in the third over was the high point. Sooryavanshi, one of the two fielders out in the powerplay, made a nice cutter wide of off appear to be a bad ball by hitting it over deep point. Amazing bat stroke and quickness.

Noor reaches a 15-ball half-century with two more sixes. It's a good moment to read Shashank Kishore's Sooryavanshi.

The 15-year-old phenom is the only player in the IPL to reach fifties faster than KL Rahul, Pat Cummins, Romario Shepherd, and his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In RR's brief pursuit, this is Matt Henry's first over. Henry, 34, gave 15-year-old Sooryavanshi an opportunity with his opening ball, but rookie Kartik dropped it at midwicket and parried it to the boundary. What happens to the subsequent ball? Over midwicket, Sooryavanshi hits a six. Jaiswal then hit a four to end an 18-run opening over.

CSK made 127.

Rajasthan Royals against. Chennai Super Kings 127 (Overton 43, Jadeja 2-18, Archer 2-19)

The Chennai Super Kings have a new look and a new IPL season, but their batting problems remain the same.

They were eventually bowled out for 127 in 19.4 overs against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. Their powerplay score of 41 for 4 was a repeat of 2025, when they had finished at the bottom of the league.

After winning a vital toss and choosing to bowl, RR made superb use of the Guwahati pitch, which was difficult to bat because it had spent a significant amount of time under covers on both match day and match eve.

Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer both bowled Test-match lengths to destroy CSK's top order. After 17 years away, Ravindra Jadeja returned to the Rajasthan Royals with a double-wicket first over. For CSK, there would be no turning back.

Burger delivered the opening punch, knocking off Sanju Samson's off stump with a brilliantly pitched delivery that dealt away from left-arm over the wicket. Maybe Samson was anticipating the inswinger to flick, but he missed. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, attempted to knock his way out of difficulty by exposing all of his stumps, but Archer bowled him.

The middle order was unable to halt the rot after Samson and Gaikwad were both dismissed for six. Burger bounced out Ayush Mhatre for a golden duck, while Sandeep Sharma was hit for two off seven balls by Matt Short, who replaced the injured Dewald Brevis.

CSK was 57 for 6 after Jadeja removed Shivam Dube in his first over back for RR and Sarfaraz Khan, who entered as an Impact Sub. After that, Overton and Anshul Kamboj combined 33 for the final wicket to help CSK surpass 120.

Mar 30, 2026, 9:04 PM

Overton pushes CSK above 100

Overton's cameo saved CSK from being bowled out for a sub-100 total at one point. With a top-edged four over short fine leg off Sandeep, the England all-rounder leads CSK to triple figures alongside No. 11 Kamboj.

Mar 30, 2026, 8:30 PM

Brijesh's first IPL wicket

Brijesh hits Kartik Sharma's front pad with an inswinging yorker. Brijesh bowls in the lower 130 kph range, so he lacks express pace, but he's been decent with length. This ball is spot on, and Kartik's reviews are pointless. In the eleventh over, CSK is 74 for 7.

Mar 30, 2026, 8:12 PM

CSK vs. Jadeja

In seven overs, CSK is 51 for 4. Jadeja enters the scene, and with his second ball, he dismisses Sarfaraz Khan, making it 51 for 5.

A typical Jadeja delivery. Quick, level, and going after the stumps. Sarfaraz does not meet the ball despite going low for a sweep. The stumps are always in play thanks to Jadeja. 17 off 12 balls, out lbw.

However, new man Dube swats his next ball over wide long-on for six. Jadeja conceals the ball from Dube's reach by swiftly changing his lines wide of off. A catch at wide long-off is the outcome. Jadeja scores two wickets in his first over back at RR!

CSK continues to fall to 57 for 6. CSK seems to be trapped in IPL 2025.

Mar 30, 2026, 8:04 PM

In the powerplay, CSK is down four.

Sandeep doesn't give Short enough pace to work with when he tries to go big over midwicket. Additionally, strokeplay is not conducive to this pitch. Sandeep's slower delivery of 122 kph brakes on Short, causing him to chip a feeble flick to Jaiswal at midwicket. In six overs, CSK is 41 for 4. CSK's powerplay issues persist in the upcoming season.

Mar 30, 2026, 8:00 PM

Hi there, Brijesh Sharma

Bengal's uncapped Brijesh Sharma was soft-launched into the IPL by RR. CSK is under siege and down three. In his first over in the league, he gives up just six runs. According to coach Sangakkara, Brijesh was selected for the team ahead of Tushar Deshpande and added to the attack ahead of Sandeep Sharma, who was one of RR's captaincy choices prior to this season.

Mar 30, 2026, 7:45 PM

Burger and Archer are the top order for CSK.

Gaikwad and Samson were both out in three overs. In three overs, CSK 19 for 2. That score is straight out of the 2025 Indian Premier League.

Gaikwad has six runs off of ten balls. He attempts to increase the score rate by creating a boundary. He retreats, but misses Archer's 143.3-kilometer rocket that lands on the middle stump.

When Burger bounces Mhatre out for a golden duck, 19 for 2 turns into 19 for 3. Burger throws a nasty short ball that brushes Mhatre's gloves on its way to the goalie. Burger and Parag give each other hugs. In the powerplay, RR is directly ahead of CSK.

CSK has brought in Sarfaraz Khan as an Impact Sub.

Mar 30, 2026, 7:33 PM

Burger on the money, Archer

Since the Guwahati surface has been covered for a long time, Jofra Archer becomes fuller rather than shorter, endangering Samson's two edges. The first ball rolls to short mid-on after decking in and striking the inner edge.

The archer then uses an awayswinger to beat the outside edge. Then he hits the outside edge for four, flying past short third. Samson in yellow had a little unsteady start. The first over yielded just six runs.

Burger pumps his fist and floors Samson's off stump in the following over. Samson fails to match Burger's leg-side flick as he cranks it up to 140.2ks. Samson's CSK debut was a 6 out of 7. Does this imply that RR was successful in the trade?

RR chooses to bowl; Kartik and Short make their CSK hand debuts

Toss: The Rajasthan Royals choose to bowl against the Chennai Super Kings

In front of his home crowd in Guwahati, Rajasthan Royals' new captain Riyan Parag won a toss and decided to bowl against Chennai Super Kings on a red-soil pitch that had been under cover for a long time.

Citing the cloudy weather, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad stated that he would have chosen to bowl first as well.

Only three foreign players—Jorfra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Shimron Hetmyer—were included in RR's bowl-first XI. When they chase later in the evening, they may add Donovan Ferreira or Lhuhan-dre Pretorius as Impact Subs. Additionally, they gave uncapped Bengal seamer Brijesh Sharma, who performed well in the 2025 Bengal Pro T20 League, his T20 debut.

Matt Henry, Noor Ahmad, Matt Short, and Jamie Overton were CSK's four foreign players. Due to injuries to both Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni, CSK gave Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma and Australian all-rounder Matt Short their franchise debuts. CSK spent a record INR 14.2 crore on Kartik during the December auction. Prashant Veer, their other INR 14.2 crore acquisition, was unable to fit into their bat-first lineup. Noor was positioned at No. 8 in CSK's bat-first lineup, which had seven bowling options overall. They can use Sarfaraz Khan as their Impact Player in the event of a batting collapse.

Both CSK and RR are expecting to improve with new squads this season after finishing last in the IPL 2025. Notably, CSK is playing a game without Suresh Raina or Dhoni for the first time.

Rajasthan Royals: 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Riyan Parag(capt), 4 Dhruv Jurel(wk), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 Jofra Archer, 8 Nandre Burger, 9 Sandeep Sharma, 10 Ravi Bishnoi, 11 Brijesh Sharma

Impact Subs: Donovan Ferreira, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Ravi Singh, Sushant Mishra, Tushar Deshpande

Chennai Super Kings: 1 Sanju Samson(wk), 2 Ruturaj Gaikwad (capt), 3 Ayush Mhatre, 4 Matthew Short, 5 Shivam Dube, 6 Kartik Sharma, 7 Jamie Overton, 8 Noor Ahmad, 9 Matt Henry, 10 Anshul Kamboj, 11 Khaleel Ahmed

MI vs. KKR live score, IPL 2026: Rickelton and Rohit help MI overcome the opening game curse

Mar 29, 2026, 11:18 PM

Five balls remaining in a record-breaking MI chase

Kolkata Knight Riders 220 for 4 (Rahane 67, Raghuvanshi 51, Thakur 3-39) were defeated by Mumbai Indians 221 for 4 (Rickelton 81, Rohit 78) by a margin of six wickets.

In their seven prior attempts, the Mumbai Indians had never tracked down a target of 220 or more. Since 2012, the Mumbai Indians had never triumphed in their first IPL match. On Sunday, the second day of the 2026 Indian Premier League, MI defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets to start their season, breaking two jinxes as they chased down 221 in 19.1 overs.

Ryan Rickelton struck 81 off 43 balls and Rohit Sharma pulled back the clock with 78 off 38 balls. Together, they added 148 runs for the first wicket off 72 balls.

It was well known that KKR's bowling depth was severely lacking going into this first game. On Sunday night, Sunil Narine was a shadow of his former self, Varun Chakravarthy was useless, and Vaibhav Arora and Blessing Muzarabani were toothless.

KKR may have been pleased to reach 220 for 4 at the midway point, which was their second-highest IPL score versus MI. Ajinkya Rahane, who claimed to have "never seen so much of grass at Wankhede" before the toss, hit a scorching 67 off 40 balls, while another Mumbai boy, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, got 51 off 29 to help KKR over 220. However, MI had little trouble chasing down the highest successful target in the IPL at Wankhede with five balls remaining against a KKR team that was missing several of their front-line seamers.

This is the IPL's highest chase at Wankhede Stadium.

Mar 29, 2026, 11:08 PM

An enormous stand

Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma's 148-run partnership is the greatest for any wicket at Wankhede Stadium ever. Additionally, it is the Mumbai Indians' third-highest stand for any wicket.

Mar 29, 2026, 10:59 PM

Rickelton is caught short by Anukul's stunning move.

Anukul did amazing work at the long-off boundary, and Ryan Rickelton was immediately run out. Anukul was slapped at a fast rate with a harmless-length ball. Rickelton gets sent back after attempting to score a second run. He discovers Muzarabani in his path when he turns around, and he is unable to get by him. Rickelton is short after Anukul's hard hit from deep. He undoubtedly does his job when he falls for 81 off 43. With two strong cuts for four at the beginning of his innings, Hardik reaches the necessary rate of seven.

Mar 29, 2026, 10:50 PM

What's wrong with Varun?

This is an insightful statistic from Shiva Jayaraman. In his last six Twenty20 matches, Varun Chakravarthy has gone for 273 runs from 23 overs. For a spinner who has bowled at least 120 balls in six straight T20 matches, his economy of 11.86 in these games is the worst.

Mar 29, 2026, 10:41 PM

Is it relief for KKR?

Anukul Roy's spectacular catch while rushing back causes Rohit to ultimately tumble. Arora threw it outside off with a low full toss. In an attempt to mow it across the line, Rohit gets back and across, but he receives a lot of top-edge that goes over mid-on. As Rohit falls for 78 off 38, his innings full of six fours and six sixes, Anukul Roy rushes back, watches the ball, and hangs on to a brilliant catch. As the impact substitute, Suryakumar Yadav gets right to the point, sweeping Arora over the short fine leg first ball.

Rohit had smashed one of the most daring sixes earlier in the over, cutting Arora over deep extra cover and then maintaining his bat straight, practically posing for the photographers. Rickelton will continue to pursue a century.

Selection is justified by Royal Rickelton

Ryan Rickelton's decision over the less seasoned Quinton de Kock drew some criticism, but the opener has proven his worth. Rickelton has an even stronger start to his IPL 2026 season after a strong debut in 2025. It only took Rickelton a few overs to develop a feel for the surface, and once he did, he was unstoppable. Vaibhav Arora was hit for consecutive sixes by him, one over extra cover and the other over deep midwicket. The KKR bowlers were brutally defeated as a result of that.

Rickelton took on Sunil Narine after the six-over mark, while Muzarabani was thrashed for a cross-batted heave over long-on and watched Rohit perform at the other end in the powerplay. After sweeping Narine over deep midwicket with his first slog, he deposited him over the ropes twice in three deliveries and quickly reached a fifty from 24 balls. In the ninth over, MI broke the 100-mark and kept pushing.

Mar 29, 2026, 10:20 PM

Rohit's fastest IPL

In his IPL career, Rohit's 23-ball fifty is the fastest he has ever scored. In the 2015 final at Eden Gardens, he hit his previous fastest off 25 balls against CSK. Additionally, this is his 50th IPL fifty.

Mar 29, 2026, 10:10 PM

The house has a vintage Rohit!

At one point, he was on 12 off eight, but Rohit Sharma lit up the Wankhede Stadium like only he can after he got a feel for the surface. Varun Chakravarthy is greeted by him with a beautiful loft over covers. He then helps him over square leg after lifting him clean over covers for six. Prior to this match, Rohit's strike rate against Varun was below 100. Tonight, that has changed.

Rohit hasn't finished yet. Then, as MI rushes to 80 for 0 in the powerplay, he targets impact player Kartik Tyagi, dismissing him for two sixes to get his fifty off 23 balls. Rahane had left the pitch earlier because of cramps. KKR is captained by Rinku.

Rickelton and Rohit penalise KKR

Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma have faced the KKR bowlers after two consistent overs. Before Rickelton deposits Vaibhav Arora for consecutive sixes, Rohit pulls Arora into the stands, a shot that is highly popular at Wankhede. Rohit retreats and scythes Muzarabani over deep backward point, giving MI their third straight six. It has been difficult to score on slower balls, but Rickelton and Rohit have both suffered when the tempo picks up.

Can MI perform at their highest level?

If they succeed, this will be MI's most successful chase in the IPL. Their highest score was 219 versus CSK in Delhi in 2021.

Mar 29, 2026, 9:41 PM

KKR's steady start

Kartik Tyagi has replaced Finn Allen as KKR's impact player. Vaibhav Arora gets off to a strong start, scoring just one boundary in his opening over thanks to an edge from Ryan Rickelton and a misfield by Blessing Muzarabani. After making his KKR debut, Muzarabani was hit for two fours, one of which was dangerously close to the leg stump. KKR had a respectable start, giving up 15 in the first two overs.

Rahane and Raghuvanshi elevate KKR

Mumbai Indians vs. Kolkata Knight Riders 220 for 4 (Rahane 67, Raghuvanshi 51, Thakur 3-39)

Ajinkya Rahane remarked that he had "never seen so much of grass at Wankhede" during the toss. Given that Rahane has spent his whole cricket career at Wankhede Stadium, it was a significant joke. The skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders, however, was unfazed by the additional grass and began his season with a spectacular 67 off 40 balls. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, another Mumbai boy, helped him out by scoring 51 off 29 as KKR defeated the Mumbai Indians to 220 for 4 in their first IPL 2026 match.

MI would consider themselves to have performed well despite the enormous total, especially after KKR had gathered 78 in the powerplay and reached 100 in 7.5 overs. On his MI debut, golden-arm Shardul Thakur claimed three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah did what he does best, giving up just 35 runs in his four overs.

Finn Allen made his debut for KKR instead of Tim Seifert, and the choice was confirmed when the opener smashed 37 off 17. Allen caught another rookie, AM Ghazanfar, and hit him for two sixes and a four after facing five dot balls against Hardik. After Rahane hit Hardik Pandya for consecutive sixes, Allen went 4, 4, 4, scoring 26 runs off Hardik's second over.

Thakur used his knowledge from playing a lot of cricket at his home state field, Wankhede Stadium, to hit with his second ball. Allen was able to scoop the ball as far as long-on despite its lesser speed of 117 kph.

Cameron Green became Thakur's second victim despite smashing Mayank Markande for a huge six. Rahane, on the other hand, kept up his good work and reached his fifty off 27 balls. However, Rahane mistimed a cross-seam length ball to Hardik at extra cover, and Thakur scored for the third time, cutting off even his knock.

MI was stringing some excellent overs when that wicket was taken. Raghuvanshi's innings took a turn for the better after Rohit Sharma dropped him at long-on. Together with Rinku Singh, who finished undefeated on 33 off 21 balls, he added 60 runs off 30 balls. KKR had already surpassed 200 by the time Raghuvanshi perished in the 19th over, just after hitting his fifty off 28 balls.

After their 232 at Eden Gardens in 2019, this is KKR's second-highest IPL score versus MI.

Mar 29, 2026, 9:02 PM

All eyes are on Rinku and Raghuvanshi.

After a poor start—17 off 14 at one point—Angkrish Raghuvanshi has increased his score, and he and Rinku Singh have helped KKR get back on track. Before Raghuvanshi ends the fifteenth over with a four and six, Rinku chases after Ghazanfar, cutting him through backward point. After Rinku retreats from Boult, the two amass 14 off Thakur's last over. KKR scored 49 from the next four overs after four excellent overs.

Ghazanfar gave up 51 runs on his IPL debut.

Mar 29, 2026, 8:54 PM

Rahane's disparity in strike rate

Rahane's strike rate was 200 on the powerplay, but it dropped to 140.9 afterward, a significant difference.

Mar 29, 2026, 8:46 PM

All across KKR, Thakur

Even though this is Shardul Thakur's first game for MI, he has already put out an excellent effort. Rahane, the dangerman, is now removed, falling for 67 off 40 balls. Rahane was hit by a cross-seam delivery from Thakur. Rahane tries to clear the infield over covers when he floats one on the fuller side outside off. However, Rahane mishandles the ball as it adheres to the surface, and Hardik makes a straightforward catch at extra cover.

Before the wicket over, MI had a few good overs, with Jasprit Bumrah giving up just five in his second over. He didn't let either batter get beneath the ball and continued to hammer those blockholes. After Rahane hit Ghazanfar for a six over midwicket earlier, MI started to regress. After being reintroduced into the assault, Boult let up just eight goals.

Between overs 10.1 and 14, KKR has only scored 30 runs. However, they continue to be over 10 and above.

Rahane's fifty off 27 balls

Prior to this season, there were considerable doubts about Ajinkya Rahane. Is he the best person to take the lead? Is he competent enough to bat first? Is he able to maintain the current level of strike rates?

He seemed to have given elegant answers to each of these queries. Although it occasionally seems like Rahane is out of touch because he hasn't played international cricket in a long, he is actually in fairly good shape. Rahane scored 391 runs with a strike rate of 161.57 and 48.87 in 10 innings, making him Mumbai's top run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

And in the season opener, Rahane has once again shown that he is as good as anyone. reaches his fifty off of 27 balls. However, given Cameron Green's decline, he will need to monitor his post-powerplay strike rate.

Rahane's strike rate in the first six overs of the 2025 IPL was 187.40, and after that it was 110.94. Rahane scored at 200.00 in this match, but he has since slowed down a little. He must bat deep and long for KKR.

Mar 29, 2026, 8:11 PM

KKR in the first round

Rahane seemed to be unstoppable despite the wicket. In one of his two encounters with Thakur, he smashes a length ball outside off straight over the bowler's head after stroking a drive on the up over covers. Despite losing Allen, KKR has scored 78 points on the powerplay, so it's reasonable to conclude that the visiting team wins the opening game.

In the IPL, KKR's powerplay total of 78 runs against the Mumbai Indians is their greatest to date.

Mar 29, 2026, 8:02 PM

Shardul Thakur's golden arm strikes

In his home stadium, MI rookie Shardul Thakur has eliminated the dangerous Finn Allen with just two balls. He uses his extensive bowling experience at this location. begins his over with a slower short ball, which Rahane sheepishly pulls before Allen is hit by another slower ball. Allen only shovels this as far as long-on, and it was bowled at a mere 117 kph outside off. KKR has had a fierce start, but this is a timely blow, and the crowd goes crazy. This came after Jasprit Bumrah was hit for 11 runs in his opening over.

Mar 29, 2026, 7:52 PM

Devastation at the Wankhede

How Finn Allen would do in the IPL was the question that came up. Although he never played in the IPL, he was previously a member of RCB. But prior to the 2025 Indian Premier League, he was in excellent shape. In nine innings at the T20 World Cup, he struck at 200.00 and scored 298 runs at 49.66. He has also had a strong start to the IPL. He targets MI rookie AM Ghazanfar after five dot balls against Hardik. Pumped to the deep square fence, the spinner goes short. The subsequent ball is smashed for an 86-meter long-on six over wide. Then Allen pulls Ghazanfar over deep midwicket to end the over.

He's not finished yet. Rahane attacks Hardik first, hitting him for consecutive sixes. Hardik bowls fairly erratically, going down leg and getting penalised twice. After that, Allen strikes, going 4, 4, 4 once past deep square, once straight down the track, and then skilfully scooping past short fine leg. KKR surpasses fifty in 3.5 overs, their fastest time against MI in the IPL, after a massive 26-run over against Hardik.

In overs three and four, KKR scored forty-three runs.1• 4 6 • 6 6 6 1 lb 4 1w 4 4

Boult's first-over heroics

From the opening Boult over, there were two wides, a six, and a brace. He was a little off-kilter, once going down leg and once going well outside off, but he managed to find some swing. Rahane hoisted Boult over cow corner for a six in the middle of that. With just one four off the inside edge and five dots against Finn Allen, Pandya got off to a great start after receiving the new ball from the other end. The hard lengths that are probably going to be used this evening make the surface feel a bit faster than usual.

Can Boult, the first over, strike once more?

Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen, the two KKR hitters, are out. In the IPL's opening over, Trent Boult has claimed 32 wickets. With 27, Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes in second, followed by Chahar and Praveen Kumar, each with 15. Once more, he has the fresh ball. Is Boult able to score again in the first over? Behind him is the Wankhede. Come on!

How will Wankhede's pitch perform?

lovely image. We are exactly in the center, 75 meters straight and 64 meters on either side. How about the twenty-two yards? "I think it is an absolute beauty," says Michael Clarke. Surprisingly, there is some grass on it. It was drier here the last time I visited. However, that will seamlessly hold the circumstances together. The fresh ball will give you that extra bounce, and the pace shift will be crucial.

Mumbai win the toss and bowl

Toss: The Mumbai Indians decide to bowl against the Kolkata Knight Riders

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, won the toss and chose to bowl in their IPL 2026 opening match at Wankhede Stadium against the Kolkata Knight Riders without hesitation.

Along with Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford, who are both participating in their maiden games for the team, MI awarded debut caps to Afghanistan mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar. MI have gone with Ryan Rickelton over the experienced Quinton de Kock in their starting XI. Rickelton had a solid IPL 2025 for MI, finishing with 388 runs in 14 innings and MI have kept their faith in him. Trent Boult is the MI unit's fourth foreign player.

The fast bowling team will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, who will be accompanied by Boult and Shardul. The two spinners are Ghazanfar and Mayank Markande. Since he hasn't been included in the bowling first XI, Suryakumar Yadav will probably start as the Impact Player.

Hardik remarked, "Looks like a good track, looks a bit greener than it is used to, so let's see," during the toss. "We intend to amuse the audience because this is our stronghold and our territory. The boys have had plenty time to be ready because we started a few weeks ago."

Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of the KKR, added that he had "never seen so much of grass at Wankhede". KKR will start three foreign debutants: all-rounder Cameron Green, quick bowler Blessing Muzarabani, and Finn Allen, who was chosen over Tim Seifert and will begin the batting. The fourth overseas selection is the seasoned Sunil Narine. For the first time in the IPL, Angkrish Raghuvanshi will wear the wicketkeeping gloves. The Impact Player might be Kartik Tyagi.

Out of 35 games, MI has defeated KKR 24 times. Even better is their record at Wankhede Stadium, where MI leads 10-2, although KKR has a 2-1 head-to-head advantage since 2024.

IPL 2026 RCB vs. SRH Live Score: Duffy, Padikkal, and Kohli destroy SRH on their initial night

March 28, 2026, 11:01 p.m.

Kohli completes it.

With a ramped four, Kohli completes the chase. The Chinnaswamy adore it. With more than four overs and six wickets remaining, RCB wins. The complete report will soon be available on the website. Thank you very much for listening.

March 28, 2026, 10:54 p.m.

Kohli turned fifty!

Even though Payne, one of the few IPL rookies playing today, dispatches Patidar and Jitesh off consecutive balls in the thirteenth over, it appears that SRH will not be able to recover. David starts with a scythed cut off Payne just after Kohli reaches his fifty from 33 balls. RCB is almost certain to win handily.

March 28, 2026, 10:31 p.m.

RCB is on course, but Padikkal is out.

Despite Padikkal's dismissal for 61 off 26 balls, RCB's pursuit has continued. While Kohli is getting close to a half-century, Captain Patidar has easily reached 18 from seven balls. Even though the IPL 2026 is just getting started, it already seems like SRH's bowling attack is having a lot of issues.

March 28, 2026, 10:17 p.m.

Padikkal on the charge 21

Padikkal took the fastest balls in the IPL to reach his half-century.

March 28, 2026, 10:16 p.m.

A special for Kohli

A length ball is bowled on middle by Eshan Malinga. Perhaps it's fullish. Not a half-volley, though. It appears to be one thanks to Kohli.

He only extends a small push in response, meeting it with the full face of his bat. The majority of batters step-hit these. The Chinnaswamy crowd gets back up when Kohli just pushes it over Malinga's head.

Harshal gives SRH a chance in the following over, but Klaasen misjudges it at long-on. Rather than charging in, he retreats to the boundary and reprieves Kohli on 28.

March 28, 2026, 10:05 p.m.

Another powerplay is dominated by RCB 73

RCB scored runs during the powerplay to offset Salt's loss. So far, every bowler for SRH has been dismantled.

March 28, 2026, 9:59 p.m.

Kohli joins in on the fun

When Unadkat starts to slow down and bowl a cutter, Kohli notices it. He creates his own speed and pushes it past midwicket. He rushes out of the crease for the next ball, anticipating a short ball outside off. Unadkat places it just where Kohli desires. For four more, he flat-batted through cover. SRH already has a lot of bowling problems.

March 28, 2026, 9:54 p.m.

Padikkal bolts from the starting blocks.

Padikkal gets off to a fast start, scoring 28 off ten balls while letting Kohli do his thing on the other end. He backs off, reveals his stumps, and launches Payne over cover-point for six to welcome him to the IPL. Padikkal had trouble fitting in outside of opening while he was with RR, but he has since improved. Padikkal has claimed 34 of RCB's 51 for 0 in 4 overs.

March 28, 2026, at 9:50 p.m.

Unadkat goes on strike for SRH

Jaydev Unadkat, a seasoned left-arm seamer, scores in his opening over. Salt mishits when this length ball stops on him. Additionally, there was a slight increase in bounce. Despite colliding with rookie Arora, he appeared in the air and was captured by Klaasen close to the mid-off area. Kohli starts the same over with a four over mid-off.

After bowling the first over, Nitish Reddy is currently bowling the third. SRH has held back Payne, who is regarded as a powerplay specialist in T20 leagues worldwide.

March 28, 2026, 9:28 p.m.

Summary of innings:

Sunrisers Hyderabad 201 for 9 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Kishan 80, Aniket 43, Duffy 3-22, Shepherd 3-54, Suyash 1-28).

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 201 for 9 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the first night of a new season, with Ishan Kishan making his IPL captaincy debut with 80 off 38 balls and Aniket Verma adding the finishing touches with an equally spectacular 43 off 17.

Seven of the 17 balls Aniket faced vanished to the boundary. After RCB substituted SRH, Kishan hit 13 boundaries from 38 balls, while the rest of the team produced virtually little.

In his first three overs of the powerplay, New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy, making his IPL debut, gave his best Josh Hazlewood impersonation, dismissing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Before being replaced by Impact substitute Devdutt Padikkal, who took three catches, he bowled four straight and finished with a score of 4-0-22-3.

With two catches, including a one-handed screamer that stopped Kishan on 80 in the 16th over, Phil Salt was even more impressive on the pitch. At the end, Aniket assumed control and pushed SRH just over 200.

After taking Head's place as SRH's Impact Sub, David Payne scored an undefeated six off five balls. If SRH are to defend 201, he will play a more significant role with the ball in his IPL debut.

March 28, 2026, 9:03 p.m.

Kishan is stopped by salt on 80

To get Kishan tonight, you'll need something special. Something unique is produced by salt. screamer at the cover boundary with one hand. Kishan was dismissed for 80 off 38 balls.

The yorker is missed by Abhinandan. emerges as a complete throw. Kishan purposefully opens the bat-face and cuts it in the air. It appears to be headed for the boundary, but Salt throws himself to his right and emerges holding the ball with his right hand. What a fantastic play! This would have made even ABD proud.

There are no doubts about this catch's legality. After 16 overs at 155 for 6, SRH plummets to 167 for 7 in the following over.

March 28, 2026, 8:45 p.m.

Klaasen must go

Shepherd is hit high and long over midwicket by Klaasen in another attempt. However, it's most likely close to Salt at the midwicket boundary. Near the boundary, he uses both hands to capture the ball, but in the process, he stumbles and lands on his back. As he finishes the grab, he finds himself in an awkward side-on position. Was the boundary cushion in contact with Salt's body? Touch and move on. TV umpire Rohan Pandit declares, "I don't see any movement of the cushions," and dismisses Klaasen. Unhappy, Klaasen believes Salt touched the cushion. Klaasen must leave for 31 off 22 balls after a close call.

March 28, 2026, 8:30 p.m.

Kishan 50!

Kishan, who was instrumental in India's victory in the T20 World Cup and led Jharkhand to the SMAT title, now makes his IPL captaincy debut with a half-century off 27 balls. After witnessing Duffy defeat Reddy and Travishek, he has subsequently assisted SRH in regaining this match.

Kishan began with a traditional cover-drive off Bhuvneshwar Kumar while the ball was moving and stalling in the surface. He then dismissed legspinner Suyash Sharma and lined up rookie Abhinandan Singh. Kishan is attractive for much more.

Klaasen has also eased himself in with a brace of fours off Shepherd at the other end.

March 28, 2026, 8:11 p.m.

Duffy is replaced by Padikkal

Thus, RCB will not have Venkatesh Iyer. Duffy finishes with 4-0-22-3 after bowling four consecutive overs. It's time for him to relax in the changing area.

Here's Sampath Bandarupalli once more: Jacob Duffy is among the eight RCB bowlers who have claimed three wickets during an IPL powerplay. Wayne Parnell vs. RR at Jaipur in 2023 was the final of the preceding seven.

March 28, 2026, 8:07 p.m.

Kishan cracks 6 4 6

The other RCB debutant, Abhinandan Singh, bowled Kishan's opening over. He is picked away for 6,4,6 by the SRH captain. In an attempt to mimic Duffy's powerplay lengths, Abhinandan fails, as these ones slip into the center of Kishan's bat. He's easily reached 23 off 10 balls.

March 28, 2026, 7:59 p.m.

Duffy rocks SRH once more.

3-0-17-3.

These are the Chinnaswamy Stadium powerplay numbers of Jacob Duffy, whose tiny boundary measurements frequently frighten bowlers. Head, Abhishek, and now Reddy are the victims of Duffy's nerve-wracking IPL debut. Another misstep, another wicket, another hard-length delivery.

He took home the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal at the NZC awards on Friday. He's making an IPL debut two days later. On what looks to be a two-paced pitch, SRH is 29 for 3 in the fifth over.

March 28, 2026, 7:53 p.m.

Duffy has a spectacular IPL debut.

On his IPL debut, Duffy had the Chinnaswamy going crazy.

Ferguson's return meant that he could only play a supporting role for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. He was only chosen as Hazlewood's backup at the auction. Duffy makes a big impression in his IPL debut, defeating both Abhishek and Head while Hazlewood continues to recuperate from injury.

Head hit him over mid-off for four after he went full and gave him width. Duffy runs in hard and smacks the deck harder on the next pitch. Another insufficiently strong pull. At the square-leg boundary, Salt makes a superb catch.

In three overs, SRH is 23 for 2. The new men out in the middle are skipper Kishan and Nitish Reddy.

Duffy has removed Head three times in four T20 innings for 22 runs off 19 balls, according to our stats guru Sampath Bandarupalli.

March 28, 2026, 7:32 p.m.

Duffy: from Lumsden to Bengaluru's brilliant lights

Duffy was born in the 530-person New Zealand settlement of Lumsden. There are 51,200 people living in Invercargill, where he attended school. Since 1993, he is the first Southlander to represent New Zealand. In front of over 30,000 fans, he is currently opening the bowling for the reigning IPL champions RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He has gotten off to a strong start, giving up just seven runs in his first over. When he went too full and wide and failed to locate any swing, Abhishek grabbed hold of it and scythed Travishek over point for six. He managed to get at least three balls away from swing.

He draws a top-edged pluck from Abhishek in his subsequent over, but Jitesh snaffles it behind the stumps. Duffman, welcome to the IPL. He smashes a powerful length just outside off, which RCB supporters may refer to as the Hazlewood or Hazlegod length. delivery that is rib-high, cramping Abhishek and interfering with his pull. The remainder is done by Jitesh.

Duffy is more than simply a bowler. Go here to learn more about Duffy.

March 28, 2026, 7:09 p.m.

RCB chooses to bowl and gives Duffy his IPL debut.

Toss: Royal Challengers Bengaluru choose to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Rajat Patidar, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, chose to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first IPL 2026 match after winning the toss.

The outcome of the toss didn't bother Sunrisers captain Ishan Kishan, who is filling in for regular captain Pat Cummins, who is recovering from injury. This suggests that a new pitch might not be used later in the evening.

New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy and uncapped Abhinandan Singh, who had caught the attention of the team's scouts during the UPT20 tournament, were given IPL debuts by RCB. The 28-year-old Abhinandan has not yet represented his state in an official game. He was chosen over left-arm quick Mangesh Yadav. Duffy is anticipated to cover for RCB until their top fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood, is well.

With Phil Salt, Tim David, and Romario Shepherd all playing in RCB's bowl-first XI, Jacob Bethell had no place. The RCB's Impact Sub choices were Devdutt Padikkal and recent addition Venkatesh Iyer.

Salil Arora, an IPL rookie for SRH, struck 28 sixes in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. During that competition, only his current franchise captain, Kishan, had hit more sixes than him. Liam Livingstone, however, could not fit into their bat-first lineup. However, that XI included Heinrich Klaasen, Eshan Malinga, and Travis Head. SRH's Impact Sub choices included Livingstone and David Payne, a powerplay specialist who just won the BBL and ILT20.

RCB bowl-first XI: 1 Virat Kohli, 2 Phil Salt, 3 Rajat Patidar (capt), 4 Jitesh Sharma(wk), 5 Tim David, 6 Romario Shepherd, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9 Abhinandan Singh, 10 Jacob Duffy, 11 Suyash Sharma

Impact Subs: Devdutt Padikkal, Jacob Bethell, Rasikh Salam Dar, Kanishk Chouhan, Venkatesh Iyer

SRH bat-first XI: 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Travis Head, 3 Ishan Kishan(capt, wk), 4 Heinrich Klaasen, 5 Aniket Verma, 6 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 7 Salil Arora, 8 Harsh Dubey, 9 Harshal Patel, 10 Jaydev Unadkat, 11 Eshan Malinga

Impact Subs: Shivang Kumar, Liam Livingstone, David Payne, Smaran Ravichandran, Sakib Hussain

March 28, 2026, 6:30 p.m.

SRH and RCB both have bowling flaws.

The batting lineups of both RCB and SRH are loaded with strength and depth, but their bowling assaults are conspicuously lacking. Can Jacob Duffy take over for RCB in his first IPL season till Hazlewood recovers? Can youngster Magesh Yadav take over for Yash Dayal right away?

Who should take Cummins' place at SRH? Who ought to be their primary spinner? Given Cummins' absence, should they choose Eshan Malinga over Liam Livingstone?

March 28, 2026, 6:04 p.m.

A brand-new season with the same thrill

The IPL's new season has begun. fresh captains. new partnerships. new allegiances. fresh talent from all across the world. IPL 2026 offers us a lot of new things, but it also brings with it the same excitement. As the reigning champions, RCB will play SRH at Chinnaswamy Stadium on the first night of the new season.

Ishan Kishan, who won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Jharkhand and the T20 World Cup with India, will start in place of usual skipper Pat Cummins for SRH. SRH will start a variety of six-hitters, from Abhishek Sharma to his Punjab teammate and IPL teammate Salil Arora, despite the (temporary) shift at the top. To commemorate the Chinnaswamy's return to elite cricket, how about a high-scoring match?
