GT vs RR Live Score, IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: GT advances to the final with a chase of 215 thanks to Gill's hundred

Two teams that are similar but distinct

When New Chandigarh lights up on Friday night to host the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2, two teams that have a lot in common but very different philosophies will compete for a spot in the final.

There are many similarities between Rajasthan Royals (RR), who defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator, and Gujarat Titans (GT), who recently lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1. Both have sharp new-ball partnerships, a weak middle order, and a heavy reliance on their top three. However, their strategy for the game could not have been more dissimilar.

In Qualifier 2, Shubman Gill got off to a fast start. This season, he has averaged 9.55 runs per over in the opening six overs
In Qualifier 2, Shubman Gill got off to a fast start. This season, he has averaged 9.55 runs per over in the opening six overs

Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan, GT's openers, employ a low-risk strategy to get runs, even in the era of the Impact Player. This season, their power-play scoring rate of 9.66 places them in the bottom half. They support their bowling unit to defend just-above-average totals.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old sensation, leads RR, attempting to send every ball beyond the boundary. Sooryavanshi has struck 65 sixes this season, while Gill and Sai Sudharsan have combined for 59. RR's run rate of 11.66 in the first six overs has been the highest in the competition, despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's poor form.

When a team bats first and scores a well-above-average total, GT is quite vulnerable. GT had little chance after RCB achieved that in Qualifier 1 with 254 for 5. RR is another team that can accomplish it; they defeated SRH in the Eliminator with 243 for 8. Even though GT's bowling assault is far more potent than SRH's, it will be difficult to stop Sooryavanshi and RR if he gets going.

We now move on to the toss. Except for a tie and a washout, the chasing teams' current record is 43-27. However, the side batting first has won both of the postseason games thus far. Over the course of the IPL's 19 seasons, the knockout results have actually been quite even-handed, favouring the side batting first 36–35.

RR may therefore think about batting first and eliminating GT from the game if the coin flips in their favour on Friday. Additionally, the game will take place on the same field as the eliminator. Therefore, chasing may be difficult on a worn-out surface with minimal dew.

News about the team

Given that it's a used pitch, GT might think of replacing Kulwant Khejroliya, who was dismissed for 31 in his two overs in Qualifier 1, with a spinner like Manav Suthar or R Sai Kishore.

Gujarat Titans (probable): 1 Shubman Gill (capt), 2 B Sai Sudharsan, 3 Jos Buttler (wk), 4 Nishant Sindhu, 5 Washington Sundar, 6 Rahul Tewatia, 7 Jason Holder, 8 Rashid Khan, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Manav Suthar/R Sai Kishore, 11 Mohammed Siraj, 12 Prasidh Krishna

RR will probably continue to use the winning combo.

Rajasthan Royals (probable): 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Dhruv Jurel (wk), 4 Riyan Parag (capt), 5 Donovan Ferreira, 6 Dasun Shanaka, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Nandre Burger, 10 Sushant Mishra, 11 Brijesh Sharma, 12 Yash Raj Punja

Don't worry, I have covers on

Update from the ground: Hessian is being used to cover the square's pitches in order to prevent them from drying up in the sun.

Players to be wary of

There isn't much separating Jofra Archer and Kagiso Rabada, who have led their respective teams. Archer has taken 24 wickets in 15 games, while Rabada has taken 26. Rabada's economy rate is 9.48, whereas Archer's is 9.17. Rabada frequently bowls three overs on the power play, but RR also frequently saves Archer until the very end. One eye will be on the opening pairings on Friday, but another will be on these two quick bowlers and who has more influence on the outcome.

Sooryavanshi versus Rashid

In the first qualifier in Dharamsala, Rashid Khan had a bad day against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but overall, he has remained a threat in a season where all other spinners have struggled. Among the top ten wicket-takers in the IPL 2026, Rashid is the only spinner with 19 wickets in 15 innings at an economy rate of 8.77, which has been more forgiving to the seamers who bowl Test-match lengths.

In the second qualifier, Rashid is expected to pose a particularly serious threat to the Rajasthan Royals (RR). On Friday, Pitch No. 4, which was utilised for the Eliminator on Wednesday, will be used again in New Chandigarh.

Jurel says,

I should make an effort to form a cooperation with Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal whenever they are performing wonderfully. Avoid attempting to hit from both ends, as this could result in a wicket loss. I'm supposed to steer the ship ahead and keep it steady."

TGFS

I'm grateful for Sooryavanshi:

In these times, we have to be grateful for sport. Sport continues to be an attempt to push the boundaries of human greatness, even though it also contributes to global warming. Yes, athletes employ science and technology to improve their preparation, but in the bright lights, it's human vs human as they test themselves against tactics, the elements, and the boundaries of what's allowed.

Make a pitch

Earlier in the season, objectives of 220 and 223 were easily chased in New Chandigarh, a high-scoring venue. However, a worn-out pitch may make all the difference. Around 1pm, there is a risk of rain, possibly even a hailstorm, but it shouldn't have an impact on the game. The ground was covered in the evening due to a strong breeze on Thursday.

The weather is still favourable

North and north-west India have experienced storms and rain due to western disturbances, but New Chandigarh appears to be bathed in sunlight at the moment. For a whole game, the signs are good.

"There was some forecast for rain during the day, but the weather has remained clear so far," Deiva Muthu informs us from the ground. On the eve of the game, the ground crew had to cover the pitch and bowlers' run-ups due to an unexpectedly strong breeze. The tarp covering one of the stands nearly fell off due to the intense breeze.

"Sooryavanshi and RR have more backing than Gill, the Punjabi youngster, and his GT. After spending a considerable amount of time at training on the eve of the match, Manav Suthar and Sai Kishore are wheeling off on one of the practice fields. On pitch number four, which was also used for the Eliminator, one of the two left-arm spinners might replace Khejroliya.

Report on a pitch

It should be a little slower and drier because it is the same pitch as the Eliminator from two days ago. According to Anil Kumble, slower balls in the second inning can even have some grip if there is no dew. Could that result in the team batting first winning the toss?

Sai Kishore replaces GT with the same RR bat

Qualifier 2 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) got off to a potentially contentious start when the match referee failed to hear the call and requested a repetition. The losing captain, Shubman Gill, was not happy since both teams wanted to bat first on a worn wicket that they anticipated would slow down.

Parag called heads both times, but Prakash Bhatt, the match referee, failed to hear it on the first try and did his best to keep the first toss's result hidden from the cameras. But it was clear that the first coin toss had produced tails when Gill stated that he too wanted to bat first and that "unfortunately" the match referee didn't hear the call.

After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator on the same pitch, Parag didn't hesitate to bat first. Later in the evening, Parag claimed, his team had the bowling to take advantage of the slowing pitch. RR did not alter their winning combination.

Given the circumstances, GT made one change, substituting tall left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore for left-arm fast Kulwant Khejroliya, whose most recent game was his first T20 encounter in almost a year.

Rajasthan Royals 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Dhruv Jurel (wk), 4 Riyan Parag (capt.), 5 Donovan Ferreira, 6 Dasun Shanaka, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Nandre Burger, 10 Brijesh Sharma, 11 Yash Raj Punja

Time for Sooryavanshi

Once more, excitement. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada are opposed by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Every time he performs, the entire globe tunes in. Let's get locked in.

Siraj receives Jaiswal ahead of schedule

We have early indications of poor bounce, and Mohammed Siraj has bowled four balls that are not long enough. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for one off two after finding deep square leg, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi mis-hit twice for one run. After a restful night in Dharamsala, Siraj has returned. In 0.4 overs, RR 2 for 1.

Rabada replies to Jurel

Kagiso Rabada has also returned. In order to continue bowling good length or hard length throughout the over, he instantly corrects the length after first offering Dhruv Jurel length and width to cut. Jurel must finally attempt a length ball, but it is bowled at 146ks and seamed away slightly to generate a mishit to mid-off. The pinch anchor has been assigned to Ravindra Jadeja. In two overs, RR 13 for 2.

Sooryavanshi starts moving

0 4 2 2 5w 4 4

A two-paced pitch has put Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to the test. In three overs, he has yet to hit a six. However, towards the conclusion of the third over, GT became a little too funky and bowled without any fine leg, short, or otherwise. Sooryavanshi flicks a fuller ball there after sweeping a hard-length 142ks ball through. In three overs, it is 34 for 2.

Rabada versus Sooryavanshi

An era that will go down in history. On a two-paced pitch, Kagiso Rabada frequently bowls 150 runs or more, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has hit five consecutive balls. He has an off-drive 152ks hard length over mid-off on the first one. Rabada beats him three times in a row after doubling down on hard lengths. Sooryavanshi lofts him for his first straight six in fourteen balls as he straightens the line for the final ball. At 154ks, this is released. RR 45 for 2 in four overs, and he is 27 off 14.

In agony, Siraj bowls

Mohammed Siraj has caused trouble for himself with the second ball of the fifth over. Despite two trips to the physiotherapist, he continues to bowl bouncers despite appearing to have severe shoulder pain. Sooryavanshi demonstrates another facet of his game with the final ball of the over: he backs away, creates space, then upper-cuts from well outside leg to go over backwards point. Siraj leaves for medical care. RR 54 for 2 in five overs; Sooryavanshi 31 off 17.

Jadeja's SR is greater than Sooryavanshi's

I have to apologise. To provide Ruyan Parag and the others the perfect pint of entry, I believed Ravindra Jadeja had been upgraded to simply anchor for a short while. Here, nevertheless, he is paying more than Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Prasidh Krishna's short, outside-leg bowling with a beautiful leg up does help. RR 70 for 2 after six overs; Jadeja 26 off 11.

Jadeja retires in pain

After playing a small gem, Ravindra Jadeja is leaving with his elbow hurting again. He has maximised the powerplay and seen off the new ball movement, and he is walking off on 34 off 19. What a hand. When Riyan Parag enters, the score is 82 for 2 in eight overs.

Rashid Khan's typical start

4 6 1 6 1 0

Both Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Riyan Parag have tucked in after three long leaps in the first five. Sooryavanshi only managed two sixes in 23 balls, but these circumstances are not conducive to 100 for 2 in nine overs. By the way, Siraj is back on the pitch.

Holder receives Parag

Another indication that the pitch is difficult to control when bowling. Jason Holder gives Riyan Parag a length ball on the pads, but he toe-ends it into the larger side on the leg side. As you can see, this shot typically goes for a six. This person is trapped on the barrier. 11 out of 6 is gone. In 9.3 overs, it is 101 for 3.

Holder has two

To pull the Gujarat Titans back into the race, Jason Holder is crafting another spell. With an uninterrupted four-over spell of two wickets, he saved RCB in the first qualifier. With a short ball and globe, he has now sent Dasun Shanaka through to the keeper. Jofra Archer has now been promoted by RR. They want Donovon Ferreira to have a specific point of entry.

Krishna obtains an archer

After hitting a six off Prasidh Krishna, Jofra Archer is out on the following ball when Krishna removes his outside edge with a decent length outside off. Since Ravindra Jadeja's retirement, RR has lost 3 for 36 in 22 legal balls. In 12.4 overs, it is 118 for 5. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is undefeated at 49 after playing just 30 balls out of 76.

Ferreira is still being held back by them. Jadeja is back at bat after receiving some therapy.

The slowest fifty of Sooryavanshi

31 balls are needed for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to reach his fifty. Naturally, this is his slowest innings, but it's still noteworthy. In 13 overs, RR 120 for 5.

The most boundaries in a single competition

130 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has hit more boundaries in the IPL than Jos Buttler did in 2022, setting a new record of 128.

Fastest to 1000

440. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke Andre Russell's old record of 545 balls to reach 1000 runs.

For 96, Sooryavanshi falls

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi concludes yet another masterpiece. He avoided the ramp/uppercut the last time on '97 due to a deep third. He attempts that shot this time, but Kagiso Rabada's bouncer becomes too big for him, and he is only able to edge it to deep third once more. Still, this is a blinder: 96 off of 47. He scores 46 from the final 16 balls. Even though we have seen a lot of Sooryavanshi, some of the hitting was incredible. RR 176 for 6 in 18 overs.

Two stands of fifty runs

1 Out of all the Twenty20 matches for which we have statistics, this is the only time that two half-century stands between the same pair have been interrupted by an injury retirement.

Ferreira dissects Rashid Khan

1 6 6 6 2 6

Donovon Ferreira was being held back for this reason. maximum effect in a short period of time. In the final over, he is simply standing back and hitting Rashid Khan hard and down the ground. RR 214 for 6. Rashid Rashid 2-0-45-0

Archer's typical start

4 1 1w 4 4 1 4

Jofra Archer has been off target in the opening over, giving Sai Sudharsan width and slipping down Shubman Gill's pads despite the increased pace. Without taking a chance, that is 19 off the first over.

On 14, Sudharsan dropped

Nandre Burger draws some additional bounce with the opening ball of the fourth over, despite the pitch appearing to have calmed down. B Sai Sudharsan draws a skier, but Donovon Ferreira signals for it to sprint back from inside the circle. Running in from the border, Dasun Shanaka had a far greater chance of avoiding this. Ferreira hardly touches the ball, which appears to have swung away from him. In 3.1 overs, GT was 42 for 0.

Gill and Sudharsan continue

With 69 runs in the powerplay, Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan have risen to No. 2 as the IPL's most productive duo, surpassing Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle and trailing only Kohli and AB de Villiers. Together, Kohli and de Villiers have scored 3123 runs; these two have added 2846.

Ease after power play

Without taking any chances, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan added 22 runs in the first two overs following the power play. Brijesh Sharma was defeated by Gill, and Sudharsan removed Yash Raj Punja for two fours. In eight overs, it is 91 for 0.

For Gill, fifty

In the ninth over, a battered Shubman Gill hits a spectacular six and a four off Tushar Deshpande to reach his fifty in thirty balls. After that, he adds another four with a cut and a misfield. GT is 108 for 0 in nine overs, while Gill is 54 off 31.

The majority of the century stands

11 The century is between Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, surpassing the 10 between Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan.

Sudharsan reaches the age of fifty

B Sai Sudharsan ventures deep into the crease to loft Yash Raj Punja over wide long off the back foot for a six to get his fifty off twenty-six balls, while Punja stays short. He is giving himself a fair chance to reclaim the orange cap from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as he has surpassed 700.

Sudharsan has been hit by a wicket once more

He did it on the square drive this time, as opposed to cutting it the other time. On these square shots, B Sai Sudharsan is swinging the bat so forcefully that it has escaped his grasp and landed on the wicket on the full this time. I have witnessed the most bizarre pair of dismissals in consecutive games. GT 167 for 1 in 12.5 overs, and he is out for 58 off 32 balls.

Gill with a hundred

He lives here, in the Chandigarh suburbs. He is leading this team to their Ahmedabad home field. Additionally, he raises the century by charging Ravindra Jadeja, something that few people do. Additionally, he has completed at least three borders today. He is the fastest GT player to reach a hundred in 47 balls. He lifts his arms, takes off his helmet, and bows. His fifth IPL century is this one.

Gill makes 104 off 52

Although Shubman Gill misses a straight full ball on the slog because of a celebration from Jofra Archer, this has been a terrific innings. He is out for 104 off 52, which is the third-highest total in an IPL playoff chase. Now, they only need 33 off 30.

Eight balls remain in the over

This is GT's most successful chase to date and the second most successful chase in any T20 event knockout or playoff match. In the 19th over, Rahul Tewatia finished it with a straight six. In the final, Qualifier 1 will now be repeated. The top two clubs from the league stages have advanced to the final once more.

Next up is the final

As we bid you farewell, we give you a sneak peek at our final report. I'll see you on Sunday at the same location and time for the last time this season.

Despite a near solitary from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals were unable to advance to the final despite having the best batting season of any player in a T20 event with 96 against the strongest bowling attack of the competition on a less-than-straightforward field. The Gujarat Titans set up a rematch of Qualifier 1 versus the Royal Challengers of Bengaluru as the final, this time at their home field in Ahmedabad, by executing the second-highest successful chase in any knockout or playoff match in all T20 cricket.

Despite being slower, Sooryavanshi's IPL 2026 innings of 776 runs with a strike rate of 237.3 was just as brilliant as his 97 in the Eliminator. He had to face a bowling attack that could take advantage of the circumstances, a weak middle order that became chaotic due to an injury to the new No. 4 Ravindra Jadeja, and an initially two-paced pitch. Sooryavanshi reached 96 off 47 from his slowest fifty—still just 31 balls—but was caught at deep third with a century in sight for the second consecutive time.

Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan nearly strolled through the chase from the moment Jofra Archer got off to an indifferent start in the first over, but it took some incredible shots from Sooryavanshi, which once again left jaws on the floor. For this season, they both followed Sooryavanshi into the 700s, but they did so in a different way by taking fewer chances. But that was all that separated the two sides: Gill and Sudharsan were two, and Sooryavanshi was one.

IPL 2026: RR vs SRH Live Score Eliminator: RR advances to Qualifiear 2 with Sooryavanshi's 29-ball 97

No more chances

Four games into the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad's IPL 2026 was stagnating. Their batting was too reliant on the top order, their bowling was incompetent, they had only won one game, and their regular skipper was busy recuperating from an injury. A season turnaround followed when they faced the Rajasthan Royals. They started their run of five straight victories after defeating RR by 57 runs, moving them from the bottom half of the standings to postseason contention.

Despite Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 29-ball 97, RR only managed 243
Despite Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 29-ball 97, RR only managed 243

With four straight victories, RR's season got off to a perfect start. After that, there was a decline that started with that loss to SRH and ended with RR needing to win two games that were almost necessary to go to the playoffs. It might be argued that RR is in a better position going into the eliminator than SRH, who haven't really experienced any knockout fear, because they have played two high-pressure games. However, SRH has been more reliable than the other squad and will rely on players who are playing well to win in New Chandigarh.

The top orders battle

The battle of the top order may ultimately be the focus of the eliminator. When Vaibhav Sooryavanshi last played SRH, he hit a 37-ball 103 in Jaipur, but RR lost. At 11.5 runs per over, RR is now the fastest-scoring team in the powerplay this season. SRH, who are going at 11.02 in this phase, are in second place. Heinrich Klaasen (606 runs), Ishan Kishan (569 runs), and Abhishek Sharma (563 runs) are all having outstanding seasons, but Travishek as an opening pair hasn't performed well.

For the first time in a season, three batters from the same side would have scored more than 600 runs if Abhishek and Kishan were to score 37 and 31 runs, respectively, in the eliminator.

The IPL 2026 tale of SRH vs RR

Both times this season, SRH has defeated RR: by five wickets in Jaipur, where they pursued 229 with nine balls remaining, and by 57 runs in Hyderabad, when they defended 216. With a victory in the eliminator, SRH's six-match winning streak against RR would be their longest in IPL history. RR has won all three of its games in New Chandigarh. Who advances to the second qualifying round?

Strategy board: Punja and Archer are crucial against SRH's batting power

The most explosive IPL 2026 openers are the Rajasthan Royals. Once more, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have the most explosive top three, are just behind them, followed closely by RR. Naturally, many of the strategies will centre on keeping Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at bay. Sidharth Monga is shown here holding the tactics board.

In the spotlight: Abhishek and Sooryavanshi

583 runs at a strike rate of 232.37 in 14 innings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has had a tremendous season, regardless of what happens in the eliminator. He needs seven more sixes to surpass Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes in an IPL season, which currently stands at 53. RR will be in a really good position if he can accomplish that. Over the season, Sooryavanshi and the SRH bowlers have created a subtle rivalry.

When the two clubs first faced up in the 2026 Indian Premier League, Sooryavanshi lost for a first-ball duck against Hinge. Hinge had stated, "I just wanted to dismiss him [Sooryavanshi] on the first ball, that was the plan," as he accepted the Player of the Match award. When RR next faced SRH, Sooryavanshi replied by smoking 103 off 37 balls. Against Hinge, he hit 30 off nine balls, including one four and four sixes, and against Sakib, he hit 30 off ten balls, including one four and four sixes. The match between Sooryavanshi and SRH could be decided in round three.

Abhishek Sharma is at one end of the spectrum if Sooryavanshi is at the other. The SRH opener has had yet another stellar season, scoring 563 runs at a strike rate of 206.22 in 14 innings. In terms of runs, this is already Abhishek's greatest IPL season, and he will be crucial to SRH in the eliminator once more. Similar to Sooryavanshi, Abhishek was dismissed for a first-ball duck during the SRH vs. RR match in Hyderabad. However, 12 days later, he made amends by hitting a 29-ball 57 in Jaipur. In the IPL playoffs, Abhishek had a poor record: 17 runs at an average of 5.70 in three innings. Can he make amends and advance SRH to Qualifier 2?

From Gopalganj to the IPL Finalist

One of the IPL 2026 debutants, Sakib Hussain, was crucial to SRH's comeback and eventual postseason qualification. What is his hometown? How did his journey go? Read this feature by Nagraj Gollapudi to learn everything there is to know about him.

The conflict of the middle order

Naturally, Travishek and JaiSoorya have dominated much of the build-up to this game, but who follows them could be just as important, and SRH might have an advantage. If you have to pick between Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen, there is an obvious favourite. As a No. 3, Jurel in particular has appeared to be a bit of a throwback, with much space for development in his post-power-play game, especially when facing spin.

But tonight's compelling performance has the power to drastically alter that story.

SRH decided to bowl in the elimination round

When playing the Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to bowl.

The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Pat Cummins, has decided to bowl against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2026 Eliminator in New Chandigarh. Cummins explained his choice by pointing out that chasing teams have a good record at this location—three victories in four games this season.

The RR captain, Riyan Parag, stated that he would have loved to chase as well.

It's possible that SRH believed there was a greater chance of new-ball assistance in the surface than assistance for cutters and slower balls because Praful Hinge returned to the starting lineup to replace Harshal Patel in their pace attack. When SRH bats, either Salil Arora or Aniket Verma, who both start on the bench, could enter as an Impact Player.

With Shubham Dubey on the Impact Player bench and Ravindra Jadeja in the starting lineup, there was only one change in RR's starting lineup, albeit not in their match squad. Since RR is batting first, Dubey might replace a top-order batsman who was dismissed during their innings, or, depending on the circumstances, a bowler like Ravi Bishnoi or Tushar Deshpande might enter when they bowl.

This season, SRH has faced and defeated RR twice. RR, on the other hand, has played and defeated the Punjab Kings three times in New Chandigarh and has never lost a game there.

Rajasthan Royals: 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Dhruv Jurel (wk), 4 Riyan Parag (capt), 5 Donovan Ferreira, 6 Dasun Shanaka, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Nandre Burger, 10 Brijesh Sharma, 11 Yash Raj Punja.

Impact Player bench: Shubham Dubey, Sushant Mishra, Amanal Perala, Ravi Bishnoi, Tushar Deshpande.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Travis Head, 3 Ishan Kishan (wk), 4 Heinrich Klaasen, 5 R Smaran, 6 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 7 Pat Cummins (capt), 8 Shivang Kumar, 9 Eshan Malinga, 10 Sakib Hussain, 11 Praful Hinge.

Impact Player bench: Aniket Verma, Salil Arora, Liam Livingstone, Harsh Dubey, Harshal Patel.

Malinga and Cummins fully commit to Sooryavanshi

Pat Cummins had some intriguing intentions in the opening over. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's first men out are deep square leg and deep midwicket; once he returns to strike, it's deep midwicket and long-on. Every time he bowled to him, he tried to deny him elevation by going really full and at the stumps. In the end, he bowls four balls to Sooryavanshi, getting three of them almost exactly right to give up just a single. He then underpitches once, lands in the slot, and is launched sweetly over mid-off for six.

In one over, RR is 9 for 0.

Eshan Malinga is opening from the opposite end. You would have thought that Praful Hinge would accept the new ball, but he didn't. A small amount of SRH front-loading?

Like Cummins, Malinga bowls a strong first five balls before giving up a six off the final ball. Similar to Sooryavanshi, he bowls an effort at a yorker that turns into an inswinging full-toss, or dot ball, before attempting a surprise short ball and gets hooked over backwards square leg for six.

In two overs, RR is 20 for no loss.

This is the world of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

....and we're all merely existing within it.

There is little room for mistakes in Cummins' strategy to continue operating at full capacity at Sooryavanshi. Two slot balls are launched over the bowler's head for six and hit past mid-off for four. Then he alters up, goes short and across Sooryavanshi, and he uppercuts it away for six. After that, he bowls a fullish slower ball, which Sooryavanshi expertly retains his shape, waits for, and flat-bats down the ground for another six.

Cummins' two boundary fielders on the final ball of the over are a very straight long-on, nearly a straight shot, and a wider long-on. And once more, he goes yorker. Sooryavanshi cuts it away for a single with composure.

He is batting at 36 off 10 balls. There hasn't been much of a nice length to him thus far. SRH has immediately switched to death-overs bowling, and it isn't really working.

Add one more Sooryavanshi headline

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has surpassed Chris Gayle in the T20 competition record for the most sixes.

I had initially entered 59, then 60, and finally 61. All within a single over. Sakib Hussain gets to run up, bowl, and be battered by the 15-year-old after Cummins and Malinga. Against fullish, slower balls, over extra-cover and long-off, Sakib completely crushes a pull behind square when he goes short.

Sooryavanshi reaches his fifty off just sixteen balls after the third six. RR is 63 for no loss in four overs in an eliminator.

According to Sampath Bandarupalli, it is tied with Suresh Raina's renowned 25-ball 87 against Kings XI Punjab in 2014 for the fastest fifty in an IPL knockout/playoff match. He reached his fifty in sixteen balls as well.

80 for no loss

You have to admit, this power play is rather helpful for RR.

For the record, Yashasvi Jaiswal is batting at 19 off 16 balls. You might be surprised to learn that SRH has bowled fairly well to both of these batters.

Sooryavanshi just misses the IPL record

1 6 1w 4 5nb 6 6 W

Thirty balls is the fastest IPL tonne ever recorded. When Chris Gayle hit 175 against the Pune Warriors in 2013, he set the record. In an over of brutal hitting, Sooryavanshi was on the verge of shattering this record by destroying Praful Hinge. He next attempts to uppercut a bouncer that is slanted across him while batting on 97 off 28, but he top-edges it and is caught at deep third. What an innings. What a performer.

We will now need to adjust to watching regular Twenty20 cricket once more. After Sooryavanshi's wicket falls, RR is 125 for 1 in eight overs. Shivang Kumar enters the game and gives up just four in the following over.

Jaiswal leaves

How bizarre Yashasvi Jaiswal's evening has been. After witnessing Sooryavanshi smash every length and line out of the park, he is now out after facing precisely the same number of balls and scoring 29 runs per ball.

can't clear long-off and aims to launch Shivang Kumar for six. In 10.2 overs, RR is 137 for 2.

Jurel feeling upbeat

Jurel is not squandering the momentum he was given, and this is a nice, ambitious innings from him. In the eleventh over, Slog-sweeps Shivang for a six, and in the twelfth over, he dismantles Cummins.

0 4 2 6 4 1

Cummins is put under pressure by stepping over early in the over to scoop him over short fine leg. He then uses a true hit-me half-volley to pick up a pulled six and a driving four past long-off. Cummins doesn't typically bowl balls as poorly as that, although he occasionally goes for runs.

Jurel is on 32 off 13, while RR are 168 for 2 in 12 overs.

Six, fifty, out

Dhruv Jurel scores his sixth fifty of the year, and at just 20 balls, it is his most effortless. Fantastic innings. arrives with a fantastic shot, jumping off his feet to uppercut a short ball from Hinge that is climbing rapidly, barely avoiding a leaping deep third. The following ball, Hinge bangs him in again, but this time it's closer to the body's line, and he can't quite manage the pull. RR is 192 for 3 in 13.5 overs after hitting it high to deep square leg.

Hinge receives Parag

Parag frequently tries flat-bat hits in the V off balls that are either shorter or of fair length. In the sixteenth over, he attempts one such shot off Hinge and is caught at long-on for 26 off 12. He appeared to be jogging a little cautiously during the innings due to a hamstring strain.

In 15.2 overs, RR 207 for 4.

Can RR's finish be denied by SRH?

For RR, wickets are starting to tumble at a quite concerning rate. Dasun Shanaka is caught at long-on after losing five balls after Parag's dismissal while attempting to club his countryman Malinga over the leg side. In 16.1 overs, RR is 214 for 5. There is still batting to be done. Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja are now present, and RR can choose to choose Shubham Dubey as their Impact Player.

Archer and Ferreira leave

Ferreira and Jadeja put up 20 off 12 balls, although kamikaze sprinting between the wickets might have terminated their partnership several times. When they attempt to pinch a nonexistent second run in the 19th over, it eventually comes to an end.

In 18.1 overs, RR is 233 for 6. Much of RR's momentum has been sucked away by SRH. Can they reach 250?

Jofra Archer is also lost by RR five balls later. Abhishek Sharma made a perfectly timed long-on catch on the boundary edge. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who made excellent use of the wide yorker and general wide line, only managed five runs off the 19th over.

243 for eight

What an odd last over. Despite being the last hitter to be recognised, Jadeja only takes one first ball. Then, while attempting a second run that would have kept him on strike, Nandre Burger is run out.

Next, RR introduces its Inpact Player. You figure it will be either Ravi Bishnoi or Tushar Deshpande because Shubham Dubey is too late. Neither is it. Sushant Mishra, a left-arm seamer who has only played one game this season, went 0 for 46 against LSG.

RR fails to reach 250 after scoring just 36 for 5 in their final five overs. Anyone can play this game. After Sooryavanshi knocked, who would doubt that?

The archer delivers a powerful early blow

SRH has lost Abhishek Sharma two balls into their chase. Huge, huge wicket. And Jofra Archer does it in a way that is typical of Jofra Archer. The attempted hook only creates a thin edge that reaches the keeper, and the sharp bouncer climbs over the front shoulder.

Head and Kishan counterpunch

0 W 2 6 4 4

Ishan Kishan doesn't give SRH's early loss of their first wicket much thought. immediately takes aim at Archer, and the first over ends up going for 16.

2 5w 1 0 1 6 4

The second over is significantly larger. Nandre Burger goes for 19, and Travis Head joins the group. The goalie is unable to reach the large wide down the leg side.

Kishan is taken by Archer

This power play is completely out of breath. Not a single ball is incident-free. In the first four balls of Archer's second over, Kishan scored 4, 6, a dot, and 6. It was starting to look like this might be a repeat of the game from earlier in the season, when Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed a 36-ball century, but SRH prevailed because their hitters went from both ends, while RR only went from one.

However, Archer exacts his retribution, and RR triumphs. In an attempt to create space, Kishan flays a fast, shortish ball square on the off side, but instead of middleing it, he toe-ends a catch to cover. SRH is 51 for 2 in 2.5 overs, and he is out for 33 off 11.

SRH is down three after Burger strikes

RR sends in the left-handed R Smaran instead of Heinrich Klaasen or Nitish Kumar Reddy when Kishan's wicket falls. Although he is a strong first-class cricket player, is he really the best fit in this circumstance? Perhaps he was on a different day. Burger's hard-length ball grows huge on him today, and after backpedalling from mid-on, his attempt at a flat-bat hit down the ground turns into a skier that Archer snags.

In 3.3 overs, SRH is 52 for 3.

Archer receives his third

You would imagine that RR has a foot in Qualifier 2 currently. Even against balls on the stumps, Travis Head's exceptional hand-eye coordination allows him to repeatedly slap the ball through the off side while remaining leg-side of the ball. However, this is more difficult when Jofra Archer is bowling at 150 kph. After Head slashes and misses, he goes a little bit farther than normal to hit the top of the stump, which he does.

In 4.4 overs, SRH is 57 for 4. In his third over, Archer is 3 for 37. In back-to-back games near the end of the season, he has had an incredible influence on RR.

Punja strikes six and out

Is that the game? Heinrich Klaasen had just struck a fantastic shot off Yash Raj Punja, a legspinner, creating so much space that he blasted a good-length ball that would have finished outside leg stump over the covers for six. However, Klaasen takes another chance off the very next ball because the target is what it is, and it's a decent one from Punja. He was giving himself a chance by slowing it down a little and focusing on the stumps, even if it might have vanished to the boundary as well.

Although the lbw appeal is denied on the field, RR reviews and overturns it after Klaasen fails to reverse-sweep. Ball-tracking indicates that the ball would have struck a significant portion of the off stump rather than missing it, which may have caused the on-field umpire to have some doubts. In 6.5 overs, SRH is 81 for 5.

SRH is still throwing punches

SRH is still playing their shots despite all the wickets they have been losing, and they really have no other choice in an eliminator. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Impact Player Salil Arora are taking on this game, and the conditions are ideal for making shots.

Reddy just reached the fifty partnership off just 19 balls with a whippy bottom-handed knock down the ground off Brijesh Sharma.

SRH needs 112 off 60 balls at the midway point of their chase.

Jadeja receives Reddy

With Reddy and Arora playing a shot at the ball, a chance was certain, and it materialised in the eleventh over. With his fifth ball, Ravindra Jadeja launches an attack. ignites a round-armer, preventing Reddy from releasing his arms. He can only identify deep midwicket when he goes on the big shot.

SRH is 137 for 6 in 10.5 overs, and he is out for 38 off 20.

Sushant's first IPL wicket

Sushant Mishra hits a hard-length ball from left-arm around that Pat Cummins tries to club away, and Archer makes a good catch while sprinting to his right on the long-on boundary.

In 11.1 overs, SRH is 139 for 7.

4-0-58-3

Unbelievable numbers for Jofra Archer, who scored a lot of runs; in the 17th over, Shivang Kumar even chased him for 16 runs. However, the final column is the most crucial in this match, and those three wickets were taken by Abhishek, Kishan, and Head. How can you surpass that?

RR triumphs by 47 runs

Sooryavanshi made the game-winning catch by diving forward at short third in a fitting ending. We shall get to witness more of him on Friday when RR plays the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. What a game and tournament he has had.

IPL 2026 Qualifier 1: RCB advances to their second consecutive final thanks to Patidar's 93 off 33

What can we anticipate?

In Qualifier 1 of the 2026 Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) may stare across the ring at Gujarat Titans (GT) and wonder if they contributed to the creation of this monster. GT was still a cautious team in the middle of the standings when they travelled to Bengaluru on April 24. They were pleased with their opening century, which came off 57 balls. However, since RCB easily defeated them in that day's chase of 206, they have become a different team.

Rajat Patidar ultimately reached 93 not out off 33 after going from 22 off 14 to 61 off 22
Rajat Patidar ultimately reached 93 not out off 33 after going from 22 off 14 to 61 off 22

Tactics board for Qualifier 1

This season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), two elite teams that are only separated by net run rate, are tied 1-1 head-to-head and 4-4 overall. It's not a really tactical contest. Having employed the fewest players in this event, both teams are well-established, all-around teams that dislike making adjustments for certain opponents.

Phil Salt is in a race against time

This IPL, RCB has utilised the fewest players, indicating a cohesive team. If Phil Salt hadn't been hurt, there would have undoubtedly been fewer. Now that he's back in India, he's rushing to be ready for the playoffs. However, since Suyash Sharma hasn't had a fantastic IPL, and night games in Dharamsala might nullify spinners, it would be tempting to replace him with Jacob Duffy if he doesn't make it. Actually, this season's only finished game without the usage of spin took place at Dharamsala.

In the little opportunities he has had, Venkatesh Iyer has proven himself, but if Salt is healthy, he should be an obvious choice to start.

In focus

The only thing separating Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kagiso Rabada as the IPL's top wicket-takers is the RCB quick's superior economy rate. Both have been essential to the success of their teams. Rabada has been utilised mostly as a new-ball threat and has routinely bowled three overs during the powerplay, while Bhuvneshwar has been more complete, bowling 16 overs at the end as opposed to only six. Both have good matchups to take advantage of: Bhuvneshwar has dominated Shubman Gill, averaging just 16 while conceding at a strike rate of just 106.7, while Rabada has dismissed Virat Kohli five times in 16 innings.

Rabada can expose the RCB middle order to Rashid Khan, who has good match-ups there, if he can give GT an early wicket. Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar will have less flexibility to play if Bhuvneshwar makes early progress.

Inside the metamorphosis of RCB

RCB concentrated on improving their ability to adjust to various circumstances and creating a team that was adaptable enough to win in a variety of ways rather than dwelling on the reasons behind their wins.

Early indicators

Early indications from the stunning and brilliant Dharamsala indicate that Phil Salt may not be fit, which could allow Jacob Duffy to replace Suyash Sharma while Venkatesh Iyer remains the opening batsman. M Prasidh Krishna, on the other hand, has noted his run-up. If not, he might be the 12th member of GT's starting lineup.

Report on a pitch

A new pitch for this match. This has less grass than the two previous games, according to Piyush Chawla. Given that one of those two night games had 0 overs of spin out of 39, there is some room for spinners in this match.

Salt is still out when RCB requests to bat first

At Qualifier 1, Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans (GT) won the toss and ordered the Royal Challengers of Bengaluru (RCB) to bat first at Dharamsala, where the pursuing team has won both of this year's night games. Additionally, the club batting second has won both of these teams' games this year.

With Virat Kohli suffering a hand injury in the middle of the competition, RCB was still without Phil Salt, their preferred opener. Salt was not yet added to the starting lineup or the bench despite returning from England. In his absence, Venkatesh Iyer was scheduled to open.

Romario Shepherd was replaced by Jacob Duffy in RCB's bat-first lineup, which was an intriguing shift. This gave them the choice to add legspinner Suyash Sharma to the starting lineup in case Shepherd wasn't required to bat, as well as to use Shepherd as the Impact Player if necessary.

By starting Kulwant Khejroliya in his first IPL game, GT made a significant shift. The fitness of Arshad Khan, who was left out, remained unclear. However, it is still evident that they desired a left-arm fast in the starting lineup. Dharamsala's reputation for being unfriendly to spinners is confirmed by Prasidh Krishna's inclusion in the bowl-first XI. It was anticipated that one of Krishna and Khejroliya would give way to Rahul Tewatia in the pursuit.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru 1 Virat Kohli, 2 Venkatesh Iyer, 3 Devdutt Padikkal, 4 Rajat Patidar (capt.), 5 Jitesh Sharma (wk), 6 Tim David, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 Jacob Duffy, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Josh Hazlewood, 11 Rasikh Salam

RCB bench Romario Shepherd, Suyash Sharma, Kanishk Chohan, Abhinandan Singh, Jordan Cox

Gujarat Titans 1 Shubman Gill (capt.), 2 B Sai Sudharsan, 3 Jos Buttler (wk), 4 Washington Sundar, 5 Jason Holder, 6 Nishant Sindhu, 7 Rashid Khan, 8 Kulwant Khejroliya, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 M Prasidh Krishna

I'm heading to a flyer

4 4 0 4 1 1

In an attempt to disturb Mohammed Siraj's lengths, Venkatesh Iyer simply needed two balls to charge at him. He had already punched one through the cover for four before that. From deep within the crease, there was also a cover drive. RCB wins that first over.

Venkatesh Iyer is acquired by Rabada during a flyer

0 0 0 1 6 W

Right now, Kagiso Rabada is wearing the purple cap. He has now taken 25 wickets overall, including 18 during the powerplay. What a charming offer from him. Hard length, fast speed, and no motivation. To lay bat on ball, Virat Kohli needs four balls. Shubman Gill makes a beautiful catch while running back 15 metres from mid-off after Venkatesh Iyer moves in the crease and ramps him for a six. However, Rabada's pace and bounce become massive on Venkatesh. RCB 21 for 1 in two overs, gone for 19 off 7.

Most IPL powerplay wickets in a single season

Kagiso Rabada has taken 18 powerplay wickets this season, surpassing Mohammed Shami's record of 17 in 2023.

RCB won't stop

4 1 4 4 4 1

Virat Kohli surged and off-drove Mohammed Siraj over mid-off on the first ball following the first wicket. No retracting your intent. Four fours have been hit in Kagiso Rabada's second over. After Kohli's gaze, Devdutt Padikkal produced three beautiful shots: a late cut, a proper square cut, and a flick off the hip. In four overs, it is 50 for 1.

Plan A has been hit by GT

The Gujarat Titans were compelled to abandon their original strategy of using the powerplay to bowl Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada for the first time in eight games. It's safe to assume that their plan has been derailed. In the fifth inning, Jason Holder bowls for 12, including four overthrows off the final ball. In five overs, RCB 62 for 1.

Rabada's most expensive power play of the year

39 Kagiso Rabada scores the most runs in the powerplay this IPL, as RCB scores 76 for 1.

A new friendship?

This IPL, there have been seven stands of fifty or more between Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. In 2023, Kohli and Faf du Plessis held the record for a single season.

Holder is played by Kohli on

Virat Kohli tries to drag a pull off Jason Holder after eleven balls without a boundary, playing it on for a beautiful 43 off 25. The pitch was a bit two-paced, as Matthew Hayden mentioned in a pitch-side interview. The scoreboard at 93 for 2 in 8.2 overs indicates something different from the usual two-paced pitch dismissal. Rajat Patidar enters.

It is twice as wonderful with the holder

Devdutt Padikkal, the other set batter, was removed by Jason Holder in the same over. And what a beautiful delivery to use for it. The hitter is pushed back by Holder's high delivery of a wobble-seam ball that is on a decent length. He is unable to play an aggressive shot after that. The ball nibbles enough to take the outer edge while he defends. Padikkal has made 30 off 19. To either keep left-right moving or postpone Jitesh Sharma and Tim David's entering point, RCB has promoted Krunal Pandya to 94 for 3.

2-0-8-0 Rashid

Rashid Khan has played a significant role in GT's recovery. In his two overs, he has not given up a boundary. To beat his sweeps, he bowls extremely full in his second over, giving Krunal Pandya three dots. In the final 22 balls, it is 2 for 18. In ten overs, RCB scored 99 for 3.

4-0-39-2 Holder

Jason Holder has had a great session despite a loose ball on the final ball. Holder, who was introduced at 50 for 1 in four overs, has bowled his four overs consecutively, dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli. He has actually been the game-changer for GT, as they had not been able to find an all-rounder to replace Hardik Pandya up until that time. In 11 overs, RCB 112 for 3.

Krishna is defeated by Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya ruins Prasidh Krishna's excellent start, which saw him get low bounce from hard lengths from the end that Kagiso Rabada bowled from. He ramps him from down on the ground for a six after first taking on the hard length and just clearing mid-off. In 12 overs, it is 125 for 3.

Khejroliya had a close start

Kulwant Khejroliya bowls into the pitch and maintains his pace in his first over of the IPL. Despite this, he can get a low bounce and somewhat outpace Krunal Pandya. GT is 128 for 3 in 13 overs after just three singles in his opening over.

Patidar is fortunate

First, a huge leading edge lands directly between the deep third and the converging goalie. Kagiso Rabada then dumps him after a pull that goes directly to the deep square leg. He pulled a slower bouncer for four in between. Then, to exacerbate Prasidh Krishna's injuries, Krunal Pandya directs a low full toss for four. RCB 140 for 3 in 14 overs; Patidar 21 off 13.

Khejroliya removed

1 1 5nb 1w 4 2nb 4 6 4

A misfield, a full toss, two no-balls, and one wide. 28 off the over was the outcome. With the old ball, Khejroliya lacks the height and speed to be a factor. The floodgates were opened by that beamer. In 15 overs, it is currently 168 for 3. In the last five, Rashid Khan has two remaining.

Rashid was also defeated

1 6 1 6 1 6

Rajat Patidar hit two amazing sixes. Despite a noticeable turn, the first was a straight six over long-on off the back foot. The extra-cover drive comes next. RCB 189 for 3 in 16 overs, with Krunal Pandya hitting a slog-swept six in between.

RCB is dominant despite Krunal's tumble

The only other RCB player to reach 200 runs and claim 10 wickets in a single season is Krunal Pandya. Before losing to a pull off Kagiso Rabada, he completed his task with 43 off 28. Tim David enters.

55* off 21 balls for Patidar

Kagiso Rabada's missed catch is turning out to be expensive. Patidar reaches his fifty off just 21 balls with a magnificent pulled six off Rabada in the 17th over. He then celebrates by hitting a six off a full-pace, hard-length ball with a back-foot cover drive. Even Virat Kohli is in awe of it. RCB is 204 for 4 in 17 overs, whereas Patidar is 62 off 23.

The most sixes given up in a single season

The 35th six off Kagiso Rabada this season, the most anyone has given up in a single edition, was that amazing back-foot cover drive.

Siraj 3-0-46-0

6 4 1 0 4 6

Mohammed Siraj bowled the 19th over. Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar have no mercy.

RCB reaches 254 thanks to Patidar's blinder

In his undefeated 93 off 33, he hit nine sixes. Overcover off Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada, two for an all-time highlights reel. Fantastic striking without the need for elaborate shots or muscle. This total surpasses GT's 233 against MI in 2023 to become the highest in an IPL playoff.

In 8.2 overs, Patidar finished at 93 for 2. The opposite end, with extras, scored 68 from 37 while he scored 93 off 33.

What's more? Now that Rimario Shepherd is no longer needed, RCB may add another bowler. For GT, Rahul Tewatia has already replaced Kulwant Khejroliya.

Indian teams are overcoming the toss defeat

This is a charming excerpt from Sampath Bandarupalli.

In T20 cricket, there have only been five knockout or playoff matches with a total of 250 or more. In the past six months, four of those were played by Indian teams in India.

Jharkhand vs. Haryana in the SMAT final in Pune scored 262/3.
India vs. England in the T20 World Cup semifinals scored 253/7.
India vs. New Zealand scored 255/5 in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
And RCB vs. GT scored 254/5 in Dharamsala today.

The highest is Somerset's 265/5 against Derbyshire in the 2022 T20 Blast quarterfinal.

Highest strike rate of 90 or more in an innings

It was Rajat Patidar's fastest IPL innings of 90 runs or more. Indeed, his strike rate of 281.81 in this innings surpasses Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 103 off 37, making it the highest for any innings over 90 in the IPL.

Similar beginnings

For the first time in IPL history, both innings of the game began with two fours off the opening two balls. What Venkatesh Iyer did to Mohammed Siraj, B Sai Sudharsan did to Jacob Duffy.

Bhuvneshwar is as good as gold

0 1w 0 1 0 0 0

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has responded admirably to both of the GT openers' attempts to shorten his length. Given that GT is only 13 for 0 in two overs, the pressure is growing.

Sudharsan hits the wicket with his bat

B Sai Sudharsan makes a beautiful square cut for four, but the bat escapes his grasp, bounces in the crease, and top-spins onto the leg stump. For 14 off 9, he is out. In 2.3 overs, GT 17 for 1.

The dismissal is almost exactly the same as the one in the tweet.

Bhuvneshwar is still in control of Gill

A good-length wobble-seam ball that nips back in to hit the middle and leg stumps and beat Shubman Gill's slog. Gill has taken six wickets in 79 balls for 80 runs. There was just one winner in that head-to-head match. GT 27 for 2 in 3.1 overs. He just needs one blow to get the purple cap back.

Against Buttler, Hazlewood has the final say

1 1 4 0 1

Josh Hazlewood has got his own back with a beautiful knuckle-ball legcutter that is a little slower than usual and beats his attempt to back away and cut, but Jos Buttler appears to be in some touch in his innings of 29 off 11. In 4.5 overs, GT 51 for 3.

Did the umpires make the Sudharsan ruling too quickly?

Yes, B Sai Sudharsan's bat struck the wicket, but the ball soared off the bat for four. The hit-wicket must now occur while the ball is in play, according to the law. Would they have been able to slow it down and see if the ball struck the boundary before the bat struck the wicket? The bat most likely struck the wicket before the ball reached the fence, but that might have been verified. However, we have verified that when the bat destroyed the wicket, the ball had only travelled 35 yards. Just as you were.

Goodbye to two in one over

After taking three wickets, Rasikh Salam enters the game and continues to test the middle of the pitch with cross-seam deliveries. After sending back Nishant Sindhu with a beautiful diving catch, he catches Jason Holder mid-on with hard length. The shouting is everywhere. It's a maiden by two wickets.

Wickets continue to tumble

With three wickets in 3.3 overs, Jacob Duffy is bowling out. He bounces Rashid Khan to draw the top edge for the goalie after seeing him charge at him. In 10.3 overs, it is 78 for 7.

Will this be the biggest victory in the playoffs?

105 is the largest run differential in any type of IPL playoff game. With six overs remaining, GT is eight down and still 133 adrift. They might score the largest victory in an IPL playoff if they can eliminate Rahul Tewatia.

Won't be the biggest postseason loss

Rahul Tewatia has at least spared GT the humiliation of being the team with the greatest loss in an IPL playoff match with a resolutely behind-square 67 off 39 balls. They must now score 99 in two overs.

The purple cat is reclaimed by Bhuvneshwar

Rahul Tewatian is caught at extra cover for 68 off 43 by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his final over. With this wicket, he is tied with Kagiso Rabada's 26, but Bhuvneshwar's economy is superior.

Everywhere in Dharamsala

The Dharamsala leg is over with a huge victory for the team that lost the toss, but there are still three crucial games left. GT will reflect on their fielding and question whether they could have held RCB to 200. Shubman Gill concurs. We'll end by giving you a sneak peek at our final report. We appreciate you coming. I'll see you tomorrow.

With the fastest innings of 90 or more in the IPL, Rajat Patidar led the reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the final. He scored a delightful, undefeated 93 off 33 to lead his team to 254, the highest total in an IPL playoff, against Gujarat Titans (GT), the tournament's top attack. As they awaited Qualifier 2, the winner of the Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, GT, having finished in the top two, still had a chance to advance to the final at their home stadium in Ahmedabad. The team that wins this match, Qualifier 1, has won the previous eight IPLs.

Despite missing the injured Phil Salt, RCB, who were asked to bat first in the chase-friendly Dharamsala, came out full of talent and intent. However, GT almost managed to sneak back in with a span of 22 balls, 18 runs, and two wickets of set batters in a single Jason Holder over. The opposing end, with extras, delivered 68 off 37 legal deliveries during the period when Patidar scored 93 off 33.

GT needed something exceptional because they had never scored more than 233, and only Jos Buttler, with 29 off 11, came near. During the power play, the RCB fast bowlers destroyed half the team.

IPL 2026: KKR vs DC live score: Delhi Capitals end with a consolation victory

First things first

How likely is the KKR to make the playoffs? If KKR defeats DC tonight and RR loses their current game against MI, they will undoubtedly qualify. Given that PBKS defeated LSG yesterday, net run rates would be crucial if KKR wins and RR loses. To surpass PBKS' run pace, KKR must win by a significant margin.

There is one remaining playoff slot

Due to a washout versus the Punjab Kings (PBKS), the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had only one point from their first six IPL 2026 games. Their batting lineup appeared confused, with Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi hitting slower than other teams' top-order; their inexperienced bowlers weren't taking enough wickets, and their INR 25.20 crore-purchased Cameron Green wasn't firing with bat or ball.

In a single over, Mitchell Starc claimed two wickets
In a single over, Mitchell Starc claimed two wickets

KKR did not instantly become a flawless team. However, its key players—Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Kartik Tyagi, and Green—have returned to form. These guys are the foundation of a successful bowling assault. Manish Pandey's game-winning 33-ball 45 against the Mumbai Indians, however, demonstrated the depth of their batting and compensated for their comparatively low strike-rate ceiling.

DC has nothing to lose

Delhi Capitals (DC), bloodied and bruised and already eliminated from the race, stand in KKR's path tonight. However, DC has enough star power to be no pushovers, as RR discovered when they fell short of Mitchell Starc's four-for and fifties from KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel.

In attention

Cameron Green couldn't buy a run at the start of the season. He had trouble timing and was often moved around the middle order without success. He has, however, crossed 30 five times in eight innings since his 79 against the Gujarat Titans to support the KKR lineup. More significantly, he is now essential while the ball is in his possession. In their most recent match against MI, he had his best spell to date, taking out Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir in his game-changing 2 for 23.

With DC, Abishek Porel's season has been patchy. To make room for David Miller further down the order, Pathum Nissanka, their first-choice opener alongside Rahul, had to withdraw in recent games. Even though it was only his third game of the season, Porel took full advantage of his substitution. In the powerplay, he faced players like Adam Milne and Jofra Archer and quickly reached a fifty off 29 balls. He will be eager to maintain his strong form after hitting seven fours and one six in his innings.

Trivia and statistics

DC has had difficulty winning power plays this season. They have taken just 13 wickets while bowling at an average of 62.7 and a strike rate of 36, which is the lowest of all ten teams. They also have the lowest batting run-rate in the first six overs this year (8.7).

KKR has also gotten off to a bad start. With a run rate of 8.8 and the lowest balls-per-boundary ratio of 4.5, they are the ninth-slowest batting team in the powerplay, slightly above DC.

Varun was bowling at an economy of 10.7 and a strike rate of 39 in his first six games, which was an all-time IPL low. These numbers have dropped to 8.6 and 24, respectively, in his last six games. He has once again become a deadly menace in the middle overs, perfecting long deliveries and taking six wickets in his last six matches.

The excruciating wait for KKR

In addition to performing an incredible feat on their own, KKR needs MI to defeat RR in the current match. As of right now, things don't seem all that promising for KKR. After ten overs, MI is 90 for 4 while chasing 206. The bright side is that Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav both seem good.

The emcee at Eden is providing regular score updates from the Wankhede, according to Sreshth Shah, who is present at the event.

DC brings in Nabi and Kuldeep, while KKR chooses to bowl

The Kolkata Knight Riders chose to bowl against the Delhi Capitals.

Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Eden Gardens in an attempt to secure the fourth playoff place.

Mumbai Indians (MI) must defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the current match at Wankhede Stadium for KKR to qualify. They will then need to hunt DC down in 12 to 12.4 overs, depending on their ultimate winning score, if they limit it to 180.

KKR proceeded with Tejasvi Dahiya after Angkrish Raghuvanshi was sidelined due to a concussion and a finger injury.

DC also wanted to bowl first, according to Axar Patel. When considering DC's season, he remarked, "I won't say we played badly, but we failed to capitalise on the chances we got."

DC made two adjustments. Kuldeep Yadav replaced T Vijay, and Auqib Nabi replaced Mukesh Kumar.

This season, only one game has taken place on this pitch: KKR's second game, which ended in a 65-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The square's dimensions are 61 and 68 metres. The straight line is 74 metres long.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1 Ajinkya Rahane (capt), 2 Cameron Green, 3 Rovman Powell, 4 Manish Pandey, 5 Rinku Singh, 6 Tejasvi Dahiya (wk), 7 Sunil Narine, 8 Anukul Roy, 9 Kartik Tyagi, 10 Varun Chakravarthy, 11 Saurabh Dubey

Impact Player bench: Finn Allen, Sarthak Ranjan, Vaibhav Arora, Ramandeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi

Delhi Capitals: 1 Abishek Porel, 2 KL Rahul (wk), 3 Sahil Parakh, 4 Tristan Stubbs, 5 David Miller, 6 Ashutosh Sharma, 7 Axar Patel (capt), 8 Auqib Nabi, 9 Madhav Tiwari, 10 Mitchell Starc, 11 Lungi Ngidi

A left-handed hitter and a left-arm spinner

0 0 4 4 1 1

Despite DC's left-handed hitter Abishek Porel opening the innings, KKR opens the bowling with left-arm spinner Anukul Roy. Roy begins by circling the wicket. Porel tries to pull, but he only gets an inside edge onto the pads because it's not that short. However, he rocks back and drags Roy through square leg for four following another dot. For the next delivery, Roy goes wider and fuller, but he is driven past mid-off for four.

Rahul clutches a single to mid-off against the final ball.

DC 10/0 after one

RR secures a fourth postseason berth

The Rajasthan Royals secured the fourth and final playoff position at Wankhede Stadium by defeating the Mumbai Indians. Punjab Kings and KKR have both been eliminated as a result. It's a dead rubber now.

DC 26/0 following the three

Porel is dropped by Dahiya for eighteen

Porel hits two fours against Kartik Tyagi to begin the fourth over. The following one is a classic straight drive, while the first one comes via a thick outside edge that sails past the short third for four. Then Tyagi goes wide and full. After chasing it, Porel gains a strong outside edge to Dahiya's left. Dahiya receives a regulation chance at chest height with both hands, but ultimately drops it.

DC 39/0 following the four

Porel drop is inexpensive

Saurabh Dubey makes sure KKR doesn't have to pay a lot for the Porel drop. In the channel, he bowls one full. Porel advances and attempts to drive, but only receives a slight outside edge. Dahiya jumps forward to seize it with both hands, even though it was dying on him.

Coming in at number three, Sahil Parakh scores a single off the opening ball.

Later in the over, when Rahul played early to a slower ball, Dubey almost got him, but the error missed Narine at mid-on. After two overs, Dubey is 1 for 5.

DC 42/1 following the five

Now Rinku drops one

Narine is hit down the ground for a six by Sahil Parakh. He goes backwards on the next delivery, but he hits it directly at cover-point in Rinku Singh's direction. Rinku lowers himself and tries to grab it with both hands when it's about shin height. However, it bursts out in some way. Most of the time, Rinku is a safe fielder, but this time, he grasses one. Parakh pulls it over mid-on for four after Narine ends the over with a short ball.

However, Varun Chakravarthy gives up just four goals.

DC 57/1 following the seven

Rahul strikes the vehicle

1 6 4 1 1 0

Rahul now chooses to pursue Narine. He clears Green at long-on after skipping down the track. When the TATA Sierra car is parked there, the ball bounces off its hood. I believe the agreement is that TATA will donate INR 5 lakh for the purchase of cricket gear to help grassroots cricket throughout the nation if the ball strikes the automobile.

On the next delivery, Rahul chips it over the bowler's head for four by using his feet once more.

DC 70/1 following the eight

Rahul receives fifty, and Narine receives Parakh

Tonight, Narine has been unusually pricey. Rahul knocks another six over long-on with the first ball of his third over, which is the tenth of the innings. However, Narine recovers and sends Parakh back. It is a slower-moving off-break. Parakh had to examine his shot because he was early. Rahane made no mistakes as a leading edge lobbed towards more cover.

However, Rahul persists, hitting Tyagi for a four and a six off consecutive balls to reach his fifty off twenty-five deliveries.

DC 108/2 following 11

Rahul is 60 years old

Rahul had an arrogant expression. He attempts to collect one from way outside off after hitting two fours off Roy's last two deliveries. He drops to his knees and tries to slog it. However, it moves more slowly through the air. Rahul ultimately pulls it in the direction of long-on. Powell dashes in and comfortably pouches it.

Rahul takes just 30 balls to fall for 60.

Axar Patel is joined in the centre by David Miller.

DC 127/3 following 13

Allen joins Narine as an Impact Player

KKR made a rather intriguing choice. It was anticipated that Finn Allen would be brought in as an impact player, but Narine is leaving. Does Narine have a nagging of any kind? Otherwise, considering how proficient he is with the bat, this is absurd. In addition, Varun's left foot has a tiny fracture.

For his first six, however, Miller had hauled Tyagi over square leg.

DC 150/3 following 16

After two sixes, Varun receives Axar

Before the seventeenth over, there is a brief pause while Miller and Axar switch bats. That seemed to have worked, as Axar smacked Varun for a six off the opening ball. Two balls later, he does it again, but Varun gets his man in the same over. Axar attempts a hat-trick but is hit by a long-on.

Ashutosh enters the game at number six and uses the last ball of the eighteenth over to ram Dubey for a four.

DC 175/4 following 18

DC post 203 for five

DC reaches 203 for 5, their biggest total ever at Eden Gardens, thanks to 28 runs from Ashutosh and Miller in the final two overs. Before Miller significantly ruins Dubey's stats in the 20th with two sixes, Ashutosh scores a four and a six off Tyagi in the 19th. Dahiya drops Ashutosh off the last ball to deny him a third wicket, but Dubey does dismiss Miller, who was caught at mid-off off a full delivery.

Rahul is replaced by Kuldeep

The teamsheet listed KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper; Impact Player Kuldeep Yadav has taken his place. Porel will now keep wicket.

Allen's boundary was off target

Rahane singles to put Allen on strike after two dots. Starc is flat-batted past mid-off for four by Allen, who doesn't require a sighter.

Next up, Starc attempted a full yorker and nearly eliminated Allen with it. It barely missed the off stump while swinging in.

Rahane's problems with power play

Starc vs Allen

Starc is facing Allen. When Starc is full, he steers him past first slip for a four after first lofting him over his head for a six.

Rahane attempts to go big on the final ball as well. He flies over the short third with a thick outside edge that nearly carries the entire distance. Starc was fifteen from that.

KKR 26/0 following the three

Ngidi obtains Allen

Nabi lacks the speed to cause problems for batters. And Rahane dismantles him with minimal assistance from the pitch. After launching him over long-on, the batter drags him over deep midwicket for two consecutive sixes. Allen also hit him for a four earlier in the over.

Ngidi takes Starc's place in the attack and uses his second ball to score. Allen gets a massive inside edge on his stumps when he tries to strike him through the leg side.

Manish Pandey is ranked third.

KKR 43/1 following 4.2

Rahane and Pandey put KKR back on track

6 1 0 6 6 2

In the seventh over, Pandey hits Axar for a straight six after gliding down the ground. Then Rahane takes over and hits two consecutive sixes. KKR is back on track after scoring 21 runs in that over.

KKR 85/1 following eight

With rain in the air, Ngidi retaliates

Despite the rain, Starc manages to make a fantastic catch. Pandey drags it towards long-on despite his best efforts to go big against Ngidi. Starc leapt over to grab it with both hands as it went low to his right.

KKR 87/2 following 8.3

Green is captured by Kuldeep, and Rahane raises fifty

This season has been forgettable for Kuldeep Yadav. In this instance, however, he strikes in the first over. Miller makes a straightforward catch after Green miscues his attempt to go aerial against him towards long-off.

However, Kuldeep appears to have injured his right ankle after bowling the subsequent delivery. After a little assistance from the physiotherapist, Kuldeep can stand again.

Rahane hasn't had a particularly good season, much like Kuldeep. Here, however, he hits a fifty off thirty-one balls. He had 67 at the beginning of the season, but it wasn't until tonight that he reached 50 once more.

KKR 103/3 following 11

Kuldeep wins both of them

Kuldeep is ensuring that his campaign comes to a successful conclusion. Miller made his second catch of the evening after Rahane miscued one to long off. Only one ball is lasted by Rinku Singh. Rinku takes up the challenge after Kuldeep lets it breathe. Stubbs lunges forward to take the catch when he hits it towards long-off despite his attempt to go over extra.

After 37 days, Rinku gets fired for the first time; he was last fired on April 17. He scored 216 runs in five innings throughout the course of seven games during this time.

The hat-trick ball is facing Dahiya. Kuldeep slips in a googly after circling the wicket. Dahiya is clueless. He advances and gains an outside advantage, but Porel misses the opportunity. Kuldeep doesn't try to hide his anger.

KKR 129/5 following 14

Dahiya succumbs to Axar

When Dahiya tries to draw, he chops Axar onto his stumps instead of taking advantage of the opportunity. Keep in mind that Narine has been substituted out tonight. Rovman Powell is joined in the centre by Anukul Roy.

KKR requires 71 in five overs.

KKR continues to crumble

For KKR, it's over after three wickets in a single over. Because of Rizvi's genius, Rovman Powell is eliminated. Rizvi's hard hit at the non-striker left him well short of his crease, but it was always going to be a dangerous second run.

Roy is then miscued by Starc. Starc gets under it to make the catch because it doesn't go anywhere. He catches Tyagi at mid-off two balls late.

KKR 159/9 following 18

That's all

Ngidi bowls a full outside off, slower bowl. Varun chases after it, but all he can do is sky it in the direction of covers, where Axar makes another catch. That's all. everywhere. With a consolation victory of 40 runs, DC is now sixth on the points table. KKR comes in seventh.

IPL 2026 Live Score for MI vs RR: RR advances to the playoffs with a win.

RR aims to secure the final playoff position with Parag and Jadeja

The fourth and final IPL 2026 playoff position will be determined on the last day of the group stage, following around 70 games in 13 sites. For the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the formula is straightforward: win and advance to the playoffs (independent of other outcomes). The Punjab Kings' victory over the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday night erased RR's tiny hopes of surviving even if they lost.

Jofra Archer finished with figures of 4-0-17-3
Jofra Archer finished with figures of 4-0-17-3

The fact that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and skipper Riyan Parag are healthy for their last league match is a huge plus for RR. Jadeja missed their last two games due to an elbow and knee problem, while Parag was sidelined for two games due to a hamstring problem.

After losing three straight games in the latter part of the season, RR's campaign was derailed. However, they are now back on track to make the playoffs thanks to their recent convincing victory over the Lucknow Super Giants. Since 2015, RR has defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) in three of their four meetings at the Wankhede, giving them an advantage.

After a disappointing season, this is MI's final opportunity to offer its home crowd something to look forward to. They might end up with the wooden spoon if they lose for the ninth time on Sunday.

In the spotlight: Part II of Bumrah vs. Sooryavanshi

The world saw Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs. Jasprit Bumrah for the first time when RR and MI last faced off. Although Sooryavanshi has hit 53 sixes this season, his first-ball six off Bumrah is perhaps the most memorable.

Bumrah only gave Sooryavanshi five balls, but he forced the bowler to use his reserves because two of his yorkers ended up as full-tosses, and a slower ball ended up on his legs. In Sunday's second round, can the seasoned veteran defeat the juvenile prodigy?

Team news: Parag and Jadeja are available

MI may think about replacing rookie legspinner Raghu Sharma with an additional seamer if the Wankhede pitch isn't slow enough. So far in this IPL, MI has rotated through 24 players, more than any other squad. Mohammed Izhar, a left-arm seamer from Bihar, will be their 25th player if he makes his debut.

Mumbai Indians (probable): 1 Ryan Rickelton (wk), 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Naman Dhir, 4 Suryakumar Yadav, 5 Tilak Varma, 6 Hardik Pandya (capt), 7 Will Jacks, 8 Corbin Bosch, 9 Deepak Chahar, 10 Jasprit Bumrah, 11 AM Ghazanfar, 12 Raghu Sharma/Shardul Thakur

Jadeja spent a little time with the ball and a lengthier time with the bat in the Wankhede nets the day before the match. Despite not attending RR's training session, Parag is scheduled to participate.

Rajasthan Royals (probable): 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Dhruv Jurel (wk), 4 Riyan Parag, 5 Donovan Ferreira, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 Dasun Shanaka, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Yash Raj Punja, 10 Brijesh Sharma/Tushar Deshpande, 11 Sandeep Sharma, 12 Sushant Mishra/Nadre Burger

Conditions and pitch

Pitch No. 6 at Wankhede is scheduled to be used for the third time this IPL and the fifth time since it hosted two T20 World Cup matches in February. Batting first might be a good option because this is an afternoon game, particularly if the surface is sticky and slows down as the game goes on. Mumbai is expected to have light showers on Sunday afternoon.

Trivia and Statistics

In 13 IPL innings, Sandeep Sharma has removed Rohit Sharma six times while limiting him to 38 runs off 47 balls at an 80.85 strike rate. In T20 cricket, Jorfra Archer has a strong head-to-head record against Rohit, taking three wickets for just 36 from 36 balls in nine innings.

In the IPL, Suryakumar Yadav has also struggled against Sandeep, scoring 33 runs off 32 balls for four wickets.
Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes in an IPL season is seven shots away from being surpassed by Sooryavanshi. In 15 games in 2012, Gayle hit 59 sixes. Sooryavanshi may play four more IPL games.

Ryan Rickelton has scored 326 runs in five innings at an average of 81.50 and a strike rate of more than 200, thanks to his enjoyment of hitting on the flat, bash-through-the-line surfaces at the Wankhede.

Despite managing 103 off 89 balls at a strike rate of 115.73, Tilak has been dismissed six times in ten innings due to his struggles against spin this season. Against pace, he has been more fluid, hitting at close to 170 and getting out only four times in 12 innings.

Quotes

"I think it's not fair just to bring those four guys, but I think as a group, a lot of the guys haven't been able to consistently perform. That's how I see it. Yes, they came from a very high, winning the World Cup and all that. What you have to understand is that how you play for your national team and how you play for the IPL franchise - sometimes it is different because the personnel is different."

MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene on Bumrah, Hardik, Suryakumar, and Tilak

"Jaiswal is a different kettle of fish from Vaibhav. He's been around, obviously, he's only 24-25 as well, so a young captain. He's so enthusiastic. In the team meetings, [he's] very good. He's really talking to all the bowlers, the batsmen. He's keen to really get the team together."
RR assistant coach Trevor Penney on Jaiswal's leadership skills

What should RR do at this point?

If RR wins the first game of the Sunday doubleheader against MI, nothing else will matter. With a victory, RR will advance to 16 points and secure fourth place. However, if they lose, the fourth qualifier will have to wait until KKR plays DC in the season's final league game.

Conditions

At Wankhede, the sun is exceptionally hot, the grass is exceptionally green, and the sky is exceptionally blue. With about an hour left before the toss, it is empty. When the Mumbai Indians use their EFA effort to pack the stadium with 25,000 children for their season-ending game, the stands will fill in.

Pitch #6

On a practice pitch, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is honing his behind-the-wicket strokes. Riyan Parag is inspecting the field for the game. Pitch No. 6 is that pitch, and thus far this season, it has been a rather high-scoring strip.

The monster that T20 created

This essay by Himanish Ganjoo about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is always worth reading again. It's an amazing book in many aspects, but its innovative utilisation of biomechanical data is what really sets it apart. If you haven't already, please read it. And if you have, read it once more.

Bumrah, Parag, and Jadeja return after the MI bowl

The Mumbai Indians choose to bowl against the Rajasthan Royals.

In their last IPL 2026 match, the Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and decided to bowl on a steamy, muggy afternoon at Wankhede Stadium. Hardik Pandya, captain of MI, observed that the pitch for this game—Pitch No. 6—tends to get better for batting as games go on, even though teams typically like to bat first in afternoon games. Riyan Parag, captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), stated that he would have loved to chase as well.

RR needs to win this game. The final league game of the season, which takes place later tonight in Kolkata between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), will determine if KKR or Punjab Kings (PBKS) secure the final playoff slot. A victory puts them in the playoffs, while a loss eliminates them from contention. MI is no longer in the running.

With Parag and Ravindra Jadeja recovering from their individual injuries and Nandre Burger joining the seam attack, RR was back to full strength for this crucial match. Interestingly, Jadeja starts on the bench, so unless he is substituted for a top-order hitter after being dismissed, his role as an Impact Player may be restricted to bowling.

For their season-ending match, MI rested Jasprit Bumrah and added Shardul Thakur to their assault. The next Bumrah vs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi match will have to wait until IPL 2027 for fans, including the 20,000 kids in the stands as part of the Education and Sports for All (ESA) initiative.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma begins on the bench as an Impact Player.

Rajasthan Royals: 1 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Dhruv Jurel (wk), 4 Riyan Parag (capt), 5 Donovan Ferreira, 6 Shubham Dubey, 7 Dasun Shanaka, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Nandre Burger, 10 Yash Raj Punja, 11 Brijesh Sharma.

Impact bench: Ravindra Jadeja, Sushant Mishra, Aman Rao Perala, Ravi Bishnoi, Tushar Deshpande.

Mumbai Indians: 1 Ryan Rickelton (wk), 2 Naman Dhir, 3 Suryakumar Yadav, 4 Tilak Varma, 5 Hardik Pandya (capt), 6 Will Jacks, 7 Corbin Bosch, 8 Deepak Chahar, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 AM Ghazanfar, 11 Raghu Sharma.

Impact bench: Rohit Sharma, Mayank Rawat, Robin Minz, Krish Bhagat, Trent Boult.

Sooryavanshi, Chahar, Jacks

Amazing cricket in the first over. First, a daring scheme from MI that nearly succeeds. As one of his two outfielders, Deepak Chahar starts with sweeper cover. He floats it full and wide, inviting Sooryavanshi to attempt to clear that fielder off the first ball he encounters. Will Jacks makes an incredible save after Sooryavanshi seemed to have just cleared the man.

When he collects the ball and throws it back into the field of play, he leaps backwards, keeping Sooryavanshi to just a single. His entire body is flying and beyond the rope. This plan may have been even more impressive if the bowling had come from the opposite end because of the shorter square boundary here.

Good response from Sooryavanshi as well. After all of this, he picks up a grass blade and lets it fall to determine the direction of the wind. This man considers everything.

The box of Jacks

In the early interactions, Will Jacks has had the biggest influence. In the first over, there was an amazing save. Then, in the second over, he comes on and gives up just four runs while bowling his offspin to the two left-handers. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also on the verge of being dismissed; a loud lbw shout occurs as Jaiswal stretches out and misses the sweep, and the ball is not distributed on the field. An umpire's decision about height at the stumps is returned by MI review and ball-tracking. little gaps. In two overs, RR is 13 for no loss.

Jacks wins Jaiswal

The match-up is successful, as is MI's choice to attempt a second over. Jaiswal appeared to be very threatening; earlier in this over, he had smashed three sixes, including a dance down the track. However, he takes on a ball that is too short to send down the ground and ends up skewing a high catch to the fielder at point. RR is 33 for 1 in 3.4 overs, while Jaiswal is out for 27 off 17.

Only five balls have been faced by Sooryavanshi. He has been nearly as much of a spectator thus far as the 20,000 schoolchildren who are watching this game from the stands.

Chahar receives Sooryavanshi

What a moment, wow. Good length, seam-up, angling into the channel and across Sooryavanshi. This kind of traditional good line and length may still be the best method for bowlers to limit damage and give themselves a chance to get him out, even if he has smashed many balls like this for six. He tries to hit over the on side, against the angle, but instead slices it high in the opposite way. Naman Dhir, who is sprinting in from the back point, catches him. In 4.1 overs, RR is 33 for 2. I wonder if this moment was in any way influenced by being starved of striking.

RR is down three after Ghazanfar's blow

This pitch has some grip, as the Jaiswal wicket and possibly the Sooryavanshi wicket demonstrated. Additionally, it aids AM Ghazanfar's first-over strike.

On the last two balls, Riyan Parag had struck him for a couple of fours (one wasn't off an in-control drive). Then, in an attempt to give himself space to release his arms, he finds himself farther away from a carrom ball's line than he would want because it clings and rotates somewhat. performs a good job of roughly centring his hit on the ground, but he falls short of clearing Tilak Varma, who makes a perfectly timed leaping and juggling catch at the rope's edge.

At 54 for 3, RR ends the powerplay.

Shanaka is off to a fast start

With assistance from MI's bowlers. He is now at 20 off 11 after hitting two sixes off delectable slot balls from Ghazanfar and Raghu Sharma. RR is 84 for 3 in nine overs, while Dhruv Jurel is on 14 off 12.

Run out, Shanaka

In a quite humorous way, at that. Shanaka rushes out of his crease at the non-striker's end after Jurel dabs Corbin Bosch in the direction of backwards point. By the time he learns that Jurel isn't interested in the single, Shanaka is nearly level with him. Even though Bosch mishandles the toss and Shardul Thakur mishandles the ball while collecting it, he still has two weeks to run Shanaka out.

RR are 99 for 4 in 10.3 overs, while he is out for 29 off 15.

Jurel starts moving

4 4 0 6 1 0

This season, he has struggled with slow starts and is usually most effective when striking pace rather than spin, especially in the middle overs. However, in a 15-run 12th over, he dismisses Ghazanfar for three crucial boundaries, and he is presently batting on 36 off 23.

Bosched is Jurel

Jurel is caught off guard by a fantastic yorker from Corbin Bosch and is unable to jam his bat down in time. Just as he was starting to get into speed, he was bowled for 38 off 26.

It's interesting to note that Jofra Archer was sent out at No. 7 instead of Ravindra Jadeja as Impact Player yet. With 7.1 overs remaining, it seems like Archer is in too early today, and Jadeja is a perfect fit to bat now and bowl later. RR had been hesitant to exploit Archer's batting abilities earlier this season; perhaps they read what I wrote about it. We'll see how it turns out.

This move also makes me question Jadeja's level of fitness. And there's still Shubham Dubey to bat!

Ferreira leaves

When Donovan Ferreira scores 18 off 15 balls, you know a pitch isn't simple. It's a touch slow and sticky, and now Deepak Chahar takes good use of it by using his slower ball to get into the pitch and quite wide of off stump. Ferreira tries to fetch a flat-bat pull from there but ends up holing out to long-on. Throughout his four overs today, Chahar has made superb use of the slower short ball.

In any case, Dubey is in now. Jadeja isn't here yet.

Archer is carrying out his duties

For RR, this promotion hasn't gone at all poorly. I believe his pure ball-striking abilities have been quite useful on this sluggish pitch. He is now at 21 off 11 after two blasted sixes over the leg side. In 17 overs, RR is 161 for 6.

Dubey leaves

Attempts to knock Thakur's slower, hard-length ball over long-on, but he is unable to clear the man. There was some controversy surrounding the dismissal because RR head coach Kumar Sangakkara was attempting to alert the fourth umpire to the fact that Thakur's towel had fallen off his waistline as he was about to deliver, but Dubey ultimately had to leave.

With 14 balls left, Jadeja is in. RR is 174 out of 7.

Archer is acquired by Thakur

For him, it's two out of three. This time, he is able to hit the hard length hard enough to raise the ball and prevent Archer from flat-batting it down the ground. He is out for 32 off 15 balls after being caught at long-on. Outstanding work. This is his best IPL score to date.

As it happens, Thakur was going to bowl this ball with six fielders outside the circle when Deepak Chahar noticed it and called for him to stop in his run-up. Before he bowled the ball, his backwards square leg entered the circle.

Because of his baseball-like approach of hitting hard-length balls, I believe Archer's promotion was particularly successful for RR. in addition to his height. On a surface where MI's seamers were continuously entering the pitch, it performed incredibly well.

205 for eight

Thirty off the final two overs, and in the last over, there was a little Sir vs. Lord squabbling between Jadeja and Thakur. 73 in the final five overs. RR had a fantastic finish, and they will confidently defend this in a day game.

In the first over, Archer strikes

Rohit Sharma delivers a duck with great skill. It has a decent length and is somewhat fuller, but it increases from there and has a late outswing as well. The ball ends up kissing the outside edge through to the keeper as Rohit plays the first angle, trying to whip it away through the leg side. It's also 145.1 kph.

In 0.4 overs, MI is 0 for 1.

Looking at the ball again, it's an inswinger that nips away after hitting the seam rather than an outswinger. I believe that once it straightened, the seam angle also tilted, causing it to appear to swing away slightly after the bounce.

The archer strikes once more

This is a true legcutter, with the seam being a little shaky and the fingers pushing slightly down the ball's side. After being angled into the stumps, it significantly straightens. Naman Dhir is bowled after swinging across it and missing.

In 2.3 overs, MI is 18 for 2. Archer is having a great time.

Run-out missed, wicket next ball

Rickelton and SKY made a terrible mistake, but Brijesh Sharma's throw from midwicket, while Rickelton is far from his crease, is almost two feet too high to hit the stumps, and they also receive an overthrow. Unbeknownst to him, Brijesh had more time to calm down and toss.

In any case, Rickelton is caught at short midwicket off the inner half of the bat after swiping at the next ball from Nandre Burger, a hard-length ball that nips into him. It's a simple opportunity, but it's good to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on the field making his first IPL catch.

In 3.2 overs, MI is 24 for 3.

Brijesh breaks through Tilak

Brijesh Sharma gets his first-ball wicket after entering the game to bowl the sixth over. This ball jags in and stays low from a length that prevents Tilak Varma from moving forward or backwards as it round the wicket. Not playable. attempts to jam his bat down but is unsuccessful, particularly with that motion.

RR may have a chance to make the playoffs, while MI are 38 for 4 in 5.1 overs.

Jacks and SKY deliver consecutive punches

What's going on here? First, Will Jacks tries to block a beamer that Brijesh lets slip, but he is hit in the gloves.

After the batters have run a single, SKY is on strike for the next ball. He tries to drop down low and play his scoop off another full-toss, but he edges the ball right into his helmet.

Fortunately, though, both of them are doing well.

MI 49 for 4 concludes the powerplay.

MI is still involved

At least as long as Jacks and SKY are out there. SKY just played the shot of the innings, creating space to hit a back-of-a-length ball from Jadeja over the covers for six after they have already put on 43 off 24 balls. MI needs 125 to win the final 11 overs after being 81 for 4.

Punja receives Jacks

The legspinner hits. A wicket from the playbook of Yuzvendra Chahal. After hitting Yash Raj Punja for a six off the previous ball, Jacks encourages him to repeat the feat by delivering a similar wide-line legbreak that is not quite as full. Jacks accepts it, launches it into the air, and it eventually finds its way into Jurel's gloves.

In 11.3 overs, MI is 101 for 5.

And with the subsequent ball, Punja creates another opportunity. Hardik Pandya attempts to hit it over the covers with a similar line and trajectory, as well as some grip and turn once more. Parag spins around, sprints, and tries to make a challenging, over-the-shoulder catch, but he can't quite grasp on on the dive after hitting it higher and with less force than he desires.

Hardik gets off to a great start

He's had a difficult season with the bat, but at the end of it, we might see a classic Hardik Pandya knock. He has been striking the ball with a terrifying confidence ever since the first-ball half-chance. In his first over at the crease, Punja hit two sixes, and Dasun Shanaka hit two pulled fours. MI are 131 for 5, and he's rushed to 25 off seven balls. They require 75 off of 42.

For SKY, fifty

Beautiful evening. Although I don't believe he has yet fully recovered his range, he has used all of his experience to reach his fifty off thirty-two balls. Not much to celebrate. SKY wants to be present when they arrive, while MI wants to finish with a victory.

The archer continues to arch

One of the best all-around performances in the IPL is this one. 32 off 15 following a promotion to No. 7. Then two incredibly fast and agile new-ball wickets. Now that MI is threatening to end RR's chances of making the playoffs, he returns for his fourth over and uses the ideal hard-length ball to dismiss a very dangerous-looking Hardik Pandya. The attempted flat-bat hit finishes up as a straightforward catch at long-on after being banged into the pitch and raised high, probably in the vicinity of Hardik's rear shoulder.

He ends with figures of 4-0-17-3; SKY is still at the crease on 58 off 39, and MI needs 56 off the final four overs.

Bosch is given to Punja

Donovan Ferreira's effortless athleticism at the midwicket boundary was lovely. In an attempt to slog-sweep Punja against the turn, Corbin Bosch falters. Ferreira runs to his right, stumbles to his right, and emerges grinning and holding the ball.

In 16.3 overs, MI is 152 for 7.

SKY leaves

Nandre Burger ends up early on his draw after going hard length, pace off, and crosses Suryakumar. Instead of going over midwicket, where he was aiming, he toe-ends it directly back to the bowler. MI are 157 for 8 in 17.4 overs while he is out for 60 off 43, which is 10 off 11 balls since he reached his half-century. 48 off 15 balls is what they require.

Oh no, what's going on here? Deepak Chahar skies a draw to his right while Archer is at mid-on for the subsequent ball. dives, pursues, and is unable to hold onto the catch. After a few moments of grimacing on the ground, he gets up and goes back to his fielding position. He appeared to hold his hamstring for a moment, but it should be alright. I hope he's alright.

Wickets continue to wicket

Brijesh uses a beautiful, slower, dipping full-toss to get Chahar lbw. Despite the fact that it seems and is plumb, Chahar reviews it because, well, why not? This is his final opportunity to request a review for this season.

RR secures the last playoff spot

The match between DC and KKR has started in Kolkata, but it's the deadliest of dead rubbers to end the league round. With a performance that will give them a lot of confidence, the Rajasthan Royals are in the playoffs.

They lost both of their openers early, struggled with the bat, and struggled to gain much momentum in the early middle overs on a slow pitch. After being elevated to No. 7, Jofra Archer started putting together one of the best all-around performances in the IPL. And for the most part, RR was in control despite the best efforts of SKY, Jacks, and Hardik in the chase.

On May 27 in New Chandigarh, RR will now play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator. Travishek vs. JaiSoorya in a batting-friendly setting. That will be an amazing game. I'm eager for that!
