Is KKR able to score?

One point, one game, one victory. Other than the routes they have taken to finish in the bottom half of the points table, there isn't much that distinguishes the two teams who play each other on Friday night in Delhi. Delhi Capitals (DC) have dropped to seventh place after losing four of their previous five games despite having a strong start to IPL 2026. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began the playoffs with five straight losses, but with to their spin attack, they have gained some momentum and are now eighth with three straight victories.

In the modest chase, Finn Allen hit twelve sixes

DC has only won one of five games at Arun Jaitley Stadium this season, thus KKR will also be happy that DC has no true home advantage. KKR requires early hits.

DC land blows

The batter, Axar

Delhi Capitals scored the fewest runs of any side in an IPL innings during this phase—11 runs for no wickets between the 12th and 16th overs. The previous lowest was 12 runs scored by CSK in Chepauk last year against KKR. CSK was four down prior to losing four wickets in those five overs.
In the seventeenth over, a wounded and hobbling Varun Chakravarthy provides some respite.

DC 142 for eight

After eight overs, DC was 74 for 2. However, just four of those overs were from spin bowlers, and three of those were during the powerplay. Roy, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy (12-0-76-3) began to control the game because to the ease of five fielders on the boundary and a slow, moving pitch. Allen 100, victory for KKR

With their spin bowlers (12-0-76-3) holding Delhi Capitals in a vice-like grip and never letting go, Kolkata Knight Riders won their fourth straight game. In the second inning, Finn Allen ensured that wouldn't happen again. Despite having just 143 to chase, he crushed DC's spinners (9-0-102-1) to register his first IPL century.

Allen's 10 sixes in the inning rank him third among KKR batsmen, behind McCullum's 13 against RCB in 2008 (yes, that game) and Russell's 11 against CSK in 2018.
