  2. After Unadkat enters the pitch slowly, Pant swats it over mid-off for a further four to tie the score.
  3. Pant takes his team home with a fifth ball over mid-off after Unadkat brings the pitch in and bowls two dots.
  4. SRH now has two losses and one victory from three games, while LSG has won for the first time this season.

Nine from the previous over are required

Harshal Patel delivers a superb over, giving up just four runs. It appeared that he had used a dipping full toss to catch Choudhary lbw. After review, it was discovered that the impact was outside off stump, despite the on-field umpire's decision to award it.

From six balls, nine are now required. The ball is in Unadkat's possession. Pant's leg side has the larger limit.

Apr 5, 2026, 7:01 PM

50 for pant

However, there isn't much celebration. because Samad was caught at long off by Dubey in the same over. The final batter to be acknowledged is Mukul Choudhary. Pant gets the strike when he singles off the opening ball. In order to identify a critical limit and lower the equation to 13 necessary from 12 balls, Pant drills Dubey down the ground. Pant's fifty off forty-three balls is reached by the boundary.

Samad and Pant lead LSG's pursuit

Malinga's six-run 15th over makes it 43 from five overs, but Pant relieves the pressure with two fours off Unadkat. In the next over, Samad follows suit against Malinga.

LSG requires 19 out of 3.

Apr 5, 2026, 6:33 PM

Shivang and Dubey maintain SRH in the contest

The bowler delivers it full, fast, and wide outside off as Badoni glides down the track to Dubey. Badoni is completely stumped and is unable to make any touch with it.

Despite starting at number five, Nicholas Pooran only lasts four balls. Unaware that Kishan has fielded the ball, he automatically starts for a run after sweeping Shivang well. Pooran is exhausted. The new batter is Abdul Samad. Pant is still batting on 32 off 30.

With 49 required from six overs, LSG is still the favourite, but it's no longer an easy task.

Shivang wins Markram, but LSG wins

Pant is leading a risky life. He barely clears mid-off when he tries to go aerial against Malinga. He then moves areially in the direction of deep square leg, where Shivang Kumar dives sideways, rushes to his right, and uses one hand, but the ball doesn't hold.

However, Shivang compensates by firing Markram. Markram holed out to long off because it was a wrong'un. Pant is joined in the center by Impact Player Badoni.

Markram directs LSG's pursuit

Markram hit Unadkat for two fours and a six in the final over of the powerplay. Even though Pant is having trouble timing (he is on 7 off 10), he has achieved 45 off 26 balls, and LSG is in a strong position.

Marsh and Pant are ranked third by Malinga

In his first over, the fifth of the innings, Eshan Malinga, Travis Head's Impact Player, scores. At Marsh, the ball was short of decent length. The hitter attempted a pull but was hit by a deep square leg.

Pant enters at number three.

LSG's consistent beginning

For LSG, the beginning has been steady. Markram and Marsh hit three fours against Ready in the second over following a two-run first over. Markram slows Unadkat's shot and pulls him over wide long-on for a six after he pace-off into the pitch.

Marsh and Markram are available for LSG

When asked if he will keep opening at the toss, Rishabh Pant replied, "We will see." And we can see that Marsh and Markram have shown up to start things off for LSG. Although I think it was the right decision, it's a little surprising that the team management abandoned the experiment after just one game, even though it wasn't a huge failure. Pant was actually exhausted from backing up at the non-striker's end.

Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey commences the bowling for SRH because there are two right-handed batters in the middle. He only concedes two singles in an over while bowling with a slip.

SRH ends at 156 for 9

LSG made a fantastic comeback in the final overs. They took five wickets and conceded just 33 in the final four overs, despite Prince Yadav's penultimate over yielding ten runs. LSG has a 73.21% chance of winning, according to ESPNcricinfo's forecaster.

According to Avesh, they benefited from the ball's reverse swing near the end.

Apr 5, 2026, 5:04 PM

Klaasen and Reddy fall in short succession

For a brief while, it appeared that SRH could easily score 175. However, LSG has drained their innings of impetus. In the eighteenth over, Reddy was caught at deep cover by Siddharth. In the next, Pant made a diving catch after Avesh removed Klaasen, who attempted a reverse paddle but struck it too finely. After the batter had walked at the bowler, he had Harsh Dubey chopping on the next delivery.

In that over, Avesh concedes just two runs.

For Klaasen, fifty

Klaasen reaches his fifty off 33 balls after arriving at 11 for 3.

Apr 5, 2026, 4:49 PM

SRH is in charge

The Orange Army came out to see this SRH. In the fifteenth over, Reddy smashes Rathi with three sixes. Klaasen hits a six to start Prince's sixteenth.

Five sixes, seven fours, and 79 runs have been scored in the last thirty balls. The partnership is 94, which is SRH's greatest fifth-wicket stand in the IPL. These two batters set the previous record in the previous game.

Reddy hits a six to begin Prince Yadav's eleventh over. Later in the over, Klaasen also scores a six. In the following, Reddy uses consecutive fours to defeat Rathi.

Klaasen makes them pay in the next over as Mukul Choudhary drops him off Siddharth with the batter on 19. In a 17-run over, he hits Avesh for four fours. Klaasen was on 21 off 21 prior to that over. He reached 40 off 27 by the end of it.

IPL's lowest ten-over totals

After ten overs, SRH is 35 for 4, which is the fourth-lowest IPL total at the midway point.

The lowest three are RR's 32 for 5 against RCB in 2009, MI's 32 for 4 against Kings XI Punjab in 2015, and KKR's 31 for 3 against Deccan Chargers (remember them?) in 2009.

Apr 5, 2026, 4:10 PM

Rathi causes more problems for SRH

After returning, Rathi hits the first ball. Livingstone attempts a lap shot, but it is deflected onto his shoulder. The ball lobs upward. Pant, who was heading leg-side, veers off course and uses his right glove to pouch it.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Klaasen will need to reignite the innings, just like in the last game. They don't have the safety net of a fast start, though, unlike the previous time.

Returning for the ninth over, Shami bowls a mix of pace-on and pace-off deliveries and concedes just three singles. In other words, he finishes his four overs at 2 for 9.

Apr 5, 2026, 4:00 PM

A helpless powerplay

M Siddharth bowls the last over of the powerplay following a third over for Shami in the opening six. Before Livingstone uses his feet to hit him over long-on for the first six of the innings, he gives up just a single off the first four deliveries. After six overs, SRH is only at 22 for 3.

Apr 5, 2026, 3:51 PM

SRH in chaos as Kishan leaves

Rathi has been removed after just one over. He is replaced by Prince Yadav, who performed admirably against Delhi Capitals in LSG's previous match. And he keeps up his excellent form. Ishan Kishan beats his inside edge and uproots his off stump when he swings the ball into him.

Livingstone and Heinrich Klaasen now have a difficult task ahead of them as SRH is on 11 for 3.

Apr 5, 2026, 3:46 PM

Shami attacks once more, forcing Head to retreat

Shami has delivered yet another, delayed blow to his former team. This one was bowled on a good length around off stump at a speed of 121.6 kph. Head tries to hit it on the rise, but his lack of speed causes him to strike it in the air close to mid-off. There, Markram is vigilant; after a few steps, he leaps forward to capture it.

The hat-trick ball is left alone by Liam Livingstone.

After three, SRH is 10 for 2. It's another calm over.

Apr 5, 2026, 3:42 PM

Rathi presents the new ball

It doesn't seem like a good idea to use a legspinner against two left-handed hitters during the powerplay. Rathi, however, bowls a variety of deliveries. similar to Varun Chakravarthy or his hero Sunil Narine. Head pulls a short ball for four to start the game. However, he only gives up three of the final five balls.

Apr 5, 2026, 3:38 PM

Abhishek is hit by Shami in the opening over

In the opening over of the innings, Mohammed Shami strikes against his old team. He catches Abhishek Sharma at short third with the final ball of the over after getting the ball to swing back in straightaway to Travis Head. At 114.7 kph, it was an offcutter from Shami. Abhishek tries to chase it, but all he gets is a thick outside edge to short third, where M Siddharth tosses to his right to take it with both hands.

SRH brings in Livingstone and Harshal, while LSG chooses to bowl

The Lucknow Super Giants choose to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Under cloudy conditions in Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, many were perplexed as to why he did so.

"There is something for the bowlers as well, but it looks like a good wicket for sure," Pant remarked. "It will be more difficult to score after the powerplay."

"We'll see," Pant responded when asked if he will keep beginning the innings. He was ranked third on the teamsheet.

Avesh Khan and M Siddharth were also taken in by LSG. They were given room by Mohsin Khan and Anrich Nortje. The bowl-first XI also included Digvesh Rathi, who missed the previous game while LSG substituted Shahbaz Ahmed as an emergency Impact Player.

Liam Livingstone and Harshal Patel were two further additions made by SRH. Only one of Eshan Malinga and David Payne, who are both on the Impact Player bench, can enter after Salil Arora was left out.

Pitch number two is where the game is being played. When an afternoon match was last played on this ground in the 2025 Indian Premier League, SRH scored 286 while Rajasthan Royals scored 242.

The dimensions of the square are 63 and 68 meters. The straight line is seventy-five meters long.

Scenes from the ground

It's a sunny afternoon in Hyderabad with a few clouds. The warm-ups have begun. The throng is steadily filling in, and the seats are orange. Although a high-scoring pitch is anticipated, there might be some spin support.

"We have a strong defensive record"

What the teams are considering...We have a strong defensive record, and it is a historically high-scoring track. But we also like to chase. You want to have the same level of confidence as a group in every circumstance. This season, we are the first squad to successfully protect the score. It's critical that we perform both tasks effectively and that our batting group is flexible."

Daniel Vettori, head coach of Sunrisers HyderabadT20 is consistently batter-friendly. The crowd gathers for the huge shots that batters are anticipated to make. However, I believe that bowlers have a chance to succeed and turn into heroes. To succeed, a bowler must have faith in his skills.

Nicholas Pooran and Shivang Kumar are in the spotlight

With no cricket in February and March and poor form in the SA20 in January, Nicholas Pooran has failed to reach 17 in seven of his previous eight Twenty20 matches. This year, he has only scored 121 runs on 99 balls in Twenty20 cricket, averaging 15. In his last eight Twenty20 matches, he has only struck nine sixes. He had a slow eight-ball eight to start the 2026 IPL. Is a batting-friendly Hyderabad surface the key to his success?

Shivang Kumar, a left-arm wristspinner who is uncommon in the IPL, might make a difference in the SRH XI. He made a half-century against Jharkhand and claimed five wickets against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had significantly better stats than Varun Chakravarthy in Kolkata and gave up just two more runs than Sunil Narine. A strong enough performance to let him to play in the Hyderabad afternoon match?

Cummins returns home to be scanned

Pat Cummins will remain unavailable for SRH while he is in Australia for a fitness test. Brydon Carse, who missed the first two SRH games due to a bruised hand, might take David Payne's place in the starting lineup if he is well. Additionally, SRH will have to choose between left-arm wristspinner Shivang Kumar and seamer Harshal Patel.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (probable) 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Travis Head, 3 Ishan Kishan (capt, wk), 4 Heinrich Klaasen, 5 Aniket Verma, 6 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 7 Salil Arora, 8 Harsh Dubey, 9 Shivang Kumar/Harshal Patel, 10 Jaydev Unadkat, 11 Eshan Malinga, 12 David Payne/Brydon Carse.

Lucknow Super Giants (probable) 1 Mitchell Marsh, 2 Rishabh Pant (capt, wk), 3 Aiden Markram, 4 Nicholas Pooran, 5 Ayush Badoni, 6 Abdul Samad, 7 Mukul Choudhary, 8 Mohammad Shami, 9 Anrich Nortje, 10 Prince Yadav, 11 Mohsin Khan, 12 Digvesh Rathi

Many questions for LSG and Pant

The story of two captains in broad strokes

Nearly ten years have passed since Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan opened the batting for India in the Dhaka Under-19 World Cup final. In the ensuing ten years, one extraordinary talent became well-known for his daring shots and bravery in Test matches played away from home, while the other created a name for himself with his lightning-fast strike rate in white-ball cricket.

Pant has always received more attention than Kishan, despite the fact that both have been difficult to ignore. However, that narrative has changed throughout the past 18 months. Pant, who won the T20 World Cup in 2024, has since fallen out of India's T20I plans, but Kishan has made a great comeback with both his second stint with the India T20I team and his outstanding domestic cricket play. As of right now, Kishan, who also won the T20 World Cup, is one of the most potent No. 3s and far more confident in his abilities, while Pant is still looking for his optimum batting position in the format.

The teams they currently oversee have changed, just as their paths have. Following a loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad rebounded with a victory in Kolkata that combined attacking batting with a bowling unit ready to adjust on the fly, while Lucknow Super Giants started their season with a loss at the hands of Punjab Kings after being all out for 141.

Ten years after Dhaka, two former prodigies cross paths once more, this time as captains. An afternoon start in Hyderabad will highlight how the wicketkeeping batsman lead their teams and is unlikely to provide much relief for spinners.
