As Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer destroyed the target of 196 with 21 balls left to be undefeated after five games, Quinton de Kock delivered one of the better innings in a losing cause. Arshdeep Singh led PBKS' crushing victory over the Mumbai Indians, who have now only won once in five games, by swinging the new ball, reversing the old one, and bowling a quiet over in the middle.

For the third wicket, Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh combined for 139 runs off 67 balls.

Rohit Sharma's injury was a blessing in disguise, allowing de Kock to play in his debut IPL match and become just the third player to strike a century for three different IPL teams. However, MI needed more clear blessings from somewhere to turn around their season. A promoted Naman Dhir hit 50 in just over five overs, and De Kock scored 112 in precisely ten overs, but the remainder of the innings never got going.

With two wickets in the powerplay, Allah Ghazanfar briefly threatened to stifle a usually raucous PBKS chase, but Prabhsimran and Iyer never allowed MI to re-enter. Prabhsimran, like Dhir and de Kock before him, had a respite on 11 and finished with an undefeated 80 off 39 to reach his incredible IPL 2026 total of 211 runs in 122 balls. He had never gone undefeated in an IPL chase before. After MI had taken two quick wickets, captain Shreyas Iyer hit an equally significant 66 from 35, beginning with a four off the opening ball.

Prabhsimran Singh scored two consecutive half-centuries. At just 23 balls, he is undoubtedly the fastest of the evening. It took Naman Dhir 29 balls and Quinton de Kock 28 to get there. Arshdeep Singh, India's other top T20I fast bowler, has been scoring runs in the IPL nearly like never before, even if Jasprit Bumrah has gone wicketless this season. He hasn't taken a wicket in the powerplay in his last ten IPL innings, despite bowling just one over at the end of each game (17–20) and giving up just 8.50 in that phase.

In just four games, Tilak Varma has been out to spin three times, averaging just 8.75 with a top score of just 20. At his peak, Tilak is a powerful hitter at No. 4 who can hold both the top and lower order in addition to his ability to change gears. Delhi Capitals have the second-worst bowling average at 35.60, while MI has the worst economy rate (11.3) in the league. The batting potential of PBKS

With the second-best run rate (10.05) and balls-per-sixes ratio (8.70) of any side, only surpassed by RCB, PBKS's unwavering perseverance in the face of wickets falling is a hallmark of the standards they are setting. They have statistically been attacking pace far more than spin, which is good for them at Wankhede, where spinners usually play a supporting role and pace bowling comes on the bat nicely due to the red soil.
