With momentum well behind them, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) return to the site of their greatest achievement. Just one week after easily chasing down 205 in Bengaluru, they have an opportunity to go up to the top of the table on Thursday if they finish the double against Gujarat Titans (GT).

This season, they have been the second-fastest scoring team, and their bowling has been explosive. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is still a threat in all phases, Josh Hazlewood is at the peak of his game, and Krunal Pandya has successfully defied traditional matchups—even when facing left-handers. Therefore, it is entirely GT's responsibility to set down the marker.

Kagiso Rabada struck in the powerplay once again

Although Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler have accounted for 70% of GT's runs, the middle order still appears vulnerable. Although the last two games have witnessed a change, the management has continued to use the same players. Jason Holder was finally added to support the middle order in addition to his overs.

Kohli pursues Rabada

Kohli attempts to charge at Rabada after charging at Siraj. However, Rabada smashes the deck more forcefully in his second over. After climbing on Kohli, he splices a catch to midwicket, where Rashid pockets another catch. Once again, Rabada is irritated. A fast bowler cannot be angered. As Kohli goes off for 28 off 13 balls, Rabada gives him a death stare. Padikkal is joined in the centre by Captain Patidar.

Was Holder's catch of Patidar fair?

Nagraj Gollapudi writes: There have been questions over whether it was a clean catch under the laws, even if the third umpire was certain and ruled it out. According to the catching law, for a catch to be successful, the fielder must have control over both the ball and his own movement.

The ball may have touched the ground twice if you watch the film. The first time comes when Holder, sprinting to his right from deep square-leg, picks a low catch and then slides. After regaining control over his movements, Holder rises up while holding the ball in his left palm.

According to the law, the TV umpire must decide whether Holder had control over the ball and his own movements prior to the ball touching the turf. It's unclear from TV replays if Holder has total control before the ball is grassed or if it hits the ground as he completes the catch. TV umpires have access to superior views and images, and in this instance, Bhattacharya most likely thought he had sufficient proof that Holder's catch was fair.
