IPL 2026 Live Score for GT vs. RCB: Holder to the fore as GT defeats RCB

Apr 30, 2026, 5:02 PM

RCB goes back to Ahmedabad

With momentum well behind them, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) return to the site of their greatest achievement. Just one week after easily chasing down 205 in Bengaluru, they have an opportunity to go up to the top of the table on Thursday if they finish the double against Gujarat Titans (GT).

This season, they have been the second-fastest scoring team, and their bowling has been explosive. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is still a threat in all phases, Josh Hazlewood is at the peak of his game, and Krunal Pandya has successfully defied traditional matchups—even when facing left-handers. Therefore, it is entirely GT's responsibility to set down the marker.

Kagiso Rabada struck in the powerplay once again
Kagiso Rabada struck in the powerplay once again

Although Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler have accounted for 70% of GT's runs, the middle order still appears vulnerable. Although the last two games have witnessed a change, the management has continued to use the same players. Jason Holder was finally added to support the middle order in addition to his overs.

Rashid Khan's decline in returns over the past few games has added to their worries. He gave up 21 in the one over he bowled against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and 2 for 49 in four overs against RCB at the Chinnaswamy, demonstrating his lack of control over runs. He has only taken three wickets in his previous five innings while leaking runs at an economy rate of 10, which is an uncommon decline for someone who has been so dependable over the years.

Against one of the most formidable batting lineups, GT will be hoping that Rashid and the rest of their attack rediscover their ability to take wickets. Momentum is at stake as the business end draws near. With CSK, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants grouped together in the bottom half, a victory would keep GT within striking distance of the top four and help them break free.

To keep runs down, bowling well will be necessary

The IPL final from the previous year, which RCB defended 190, took place on this same field. KKR was bowled out for 180, which is less than the par total of 199 on this surface, in the sole IPL match played on it this season. GT easily chased it down by five wickets. With temperatures as high as 43 degrees, Ahmedabad has been suffering from severe weather. As a result, the surface has received slightly more water than normal. For the most part, there should be a uniform red soil surface with lots of runs.

Prasidh is probably coming back for GT

Prasidh Krishna and Ashok Sharma were not involved in GT's previous match. One of them is probably going to reappear as the Impact Player.

GT probable XII: 1 Shubman Gill (capt), 2 B Sai Sudharsan, 3 Jos Buttler (wk), 4 Washington Sundar, 5 Shahrukh Khan, 6 Rahul Tewatia, 7 Jason Holder, 8 Rashid Khan, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Manav Suthar, 12 Prasidh Krishna/Ashok Sharma.

Phil Salt's fitness is causing RCB anxiety. He'll probably replace Jacob Bethell if he's ready.

RCB probable XII: 1 Virat Kohli, 2 Phil Salt/Jacob Bethell, 3 Devdutt Padikkal, 4 Rajat Patidar (capt), 5 Jitesh Sharma (wk), 6 Tim David, 7 Romario Shepherd, 8 Krunal Pandya, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Josh Hazlewood, 11 Suyash Sharma, 12 Rasikh Dar/Venkatesh Iyer

Apr 30, 2026, 5:40 PM

Jitesh is the centre of attention

Jitesh Sharma has undoubtedly been one of the greatest wicketkeepers this season. RCB will be hopeful that he maintains his current form when batting. He hasn't yet reached peak form, with a high of 23 in six innings. It is similar to previous season, when he started out slowly before blowing up late, as seen by an undefeated 85 off 33 versus LSG to propel RCB into the top two and a 24 off 10 in the championship match. He will be eager to accelerate that turnaround this time.

Apr 30, 2026, 5:50 PM

Tewatia must attend the celebration

Despite playing in seven of GT's eight games, Rahul Tewatia's role is still unclear. He hasn't bowled an over, faced just 42 balls, and been kept back even in the last moments. While this is going on, GT's middle order looks for form and identity. He needs time in the middle to make an effect, but time is running out. Is GT going to give it to him?

Getting into trouble

I Don't want to use lights or anything else as an excuse. We are aware that catching needs to be improved. We have discussed it and there is no question about it," GT assistant coach Parthiv Patel stated.

Apr 30, 2026, 6:15 PM

Fearless RCB

We don't discuss being fearless with our players. I believe that experiencing dread or uncertainty is a very common human emotion. We would prefer to talk to them about identifying such emotions and effectively handling them. Regarding RCB's strategy, head coach Andy Flower stated, "And we go about it that way."

square borders that are 66 metres apart from the North End. Straight borders are larger (around 72 metres), while fine boundaries are narrower (58 metres). Eoin Morgan anticipates a high-scoring contest. The presence of green grass may increase sideways movement and bounce. Bowlers will be rewarded with hard lengths, top of off. This season, the venue has seen three games with an average first-inning score of 196.

GT chooses to bowl against RCB

Gujarat Titans choose to bowl against Bengaluru's Royal Challengers.

Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, decided to bowl against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad. Neither team had changed.

Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli will continue to open for RCB as Phil Salt, the team's opener, recovers from his injury. When RCB bowls later in the evening, seamer Rasikh Dar is most likely to enter from the Impact Subs bench.

Arshad Khan, a left-arm seamer, remained in GT's bowl-first XI, while Prasidh Krishna and Ashok Sharma were not included. The Impact Subs list did not include either bowler. When GT pursues, Rahul Tewatia is probably going to take over as their Impact Player.

Gill believed that the live grass covering the surface could help with swing during the powerplay. However, Patidar believed that bowlers might not benefit "too much" from the surface.

RCB will be at the top of the points standings if they win today.

Gujarat Titans: 1 Shubman Gill(capt), 2 B Sai Sudharsan, 3 Jos Buttler(wk), 4 Jason Holder, 5 M Shahrukh Khan, 6 Washington Sundar, 7 Arshad Khan, 8 Rashid Khan, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Manav Suthar

Impact Subs: Rahul Tewatia, Glenn Phillips, Anuj Rawat, Nishant Sindhu, Kulwant Khejroliya

Kohli pursues Rabada

4 4 4 4 4 1

In the first over, Siraj beat Kohli on the outside edge. He nearly continued playing in the same over. However, Kohli takes the SA quick for four consecutive fours in the next over, which is bowled by Rabada. The final ball was likewise timed beautifully straight down the ground, but Rabada was able to deflect it away towards mid-on by getting his boot in the path.

Kohli becomes more aggressive against Siraj in the third over. He pumps him over mid-on after charging out of the crease. Kohli had quickly reached 28 off 10 balls. "RCB! RCB! RCB!" chants reverberate throughout Ahmedabad.

Apr 30, 2026, 7:42 PM

Bethell is captured by Siraj

After Kohli's first salvo against Rabada, Siraj provides GT with some respite. However, this ball may be hit. Excellent leg, midsection, and length. Bethell chips it tamely to that infielder rather than blasting it over midwicket. 5 off 5 balls and gone. The new Padikkal should be able to keep up with the fast-paced RCB.

Apr 30, 2026, 7:47 PM

Rabada dismisses Kohli

Kohli attempts to charge at Rabada after charging at Siraj. However, Rabada smashes the deck more forcefully in his second over. After climbing on Kohli, he splices a catch to midwicket, where Rashid pockets another catch. Once again, Rabada is irritated. A fast bowler cannot be angered. As Kohli goes off for 28 off 13 balls, Rabada gives him a death stare. Padikkal is joined in the centre by Captain Patidar.

Apr 30, 2026, 7:55 PM

Rabada is leading in the powerplay

Rabada claimed ten wickets during the IPL 2026 powerplay. He has surpassed Archer with Kohli's wicket (9).

It might have been eleven, though. Rabada sprints in and strikes the deck with much more force. In the last over of the powerplay, Rabada's fast pace and this hard length discomfort Patidar and draw a top edge, but it lands in front of Siraj as he runs in from deep third. Once more, GT bowls Siraj and Rabada during the powerplay. In six overs, RCB is 59 for 2.

Apr 30, 2026, 8:03 PM

Padikkal maintains RCB's lofty goals

Padikkal creates additional swinging room, backs away to Holder's opening ball, and scythes him behind point. The subsequent ball is shattered on the off side in front of square. Additionally, he had already scythed Siraj over point after exposing his stumps to him. Padikkal and raced away to 24 off 12 balls despite the loss of Kohli and Bethell.

Patidar, his captain, hasn't begun as smoothly. In the seventh over, he is on 10 off 10 balls.

Apr 30, 2026, 8:10 PM

Holder in the centre of the action

Seamer on the left arm A soft, hip-high delivery outside off was Arshad Khan's first ball. After lining it up, Patidar hits a six over midwicket. Arshad hits a powerful length three balls later. This length cannot be pulled. Patidar continues to attempt the shot and splices it in midair. From deep square leg, Holder sprints to his right, dives, and bags a deft low catch.

After examining it, TV umpire Abhijit Bhattacharya rules it out. He believes that Holder's fingertips are beneath the ball. But wait. Patidar is clinging to the edge. His teammates make gestures suggesting that when Holder slid and finished the grab, the ball may have touched the ground. Kohli and coach Flower speak with Parashar Joshi, the reserve umpire. They don't appear to be happy about being fired. Holder has "full control in my eyes," according to commentator Eoin Morgan. Yes, that was a perfect catch.

Patidar must leave for 19 off 15 balls. RCB is now 80 for 4 in the ninth over as Holder grabs the ball and Jitesh Sharma nicks behind for 1. After David draws Rashid to Holder at midwicket for 9 off 6 balls, that quickly becomes 91 for 5.

Apr 30, 2026, 8:27 PM

There are holders everywhere!

Krunal's pads are pushed by Arshad. He flicks it up to midwicket, where the catch is held by Holder (who else?). He has been involved in four of RCB's six dismissals thus far, and this is his third catch. In the eleventh over, RCB falters to 96 for 6.

Despite losing a lot of wickets, RCB's batsmen haven't yet been compelled to lessen their attacking intensity. This team was formed like manner, according to their mentor DK. "Err on the positive side" is how he wants his hitters to perform.

Shepherd in at number eight. To stop their batting slump, RCB may choose to add Venkatesh Iyer as an Impact Sub at the expense of a specialist spinner.

Apr 30, 2026, 8:40 PM

Rashid retaliates

Padikkal continues to play for 40 off 24 balls when Rashid drags his length back after being hit by a pair of sixes. Padikkal chops Rashid on after daring to cut from the stumps. After pressing the emergency switch, RCB crumpled to 126 for seven. As an Impact Player, Venkatesh Iyer has been added. Iyer is batting at number nine for the first time in the IPL and for the third time in his 147-match T20 career. Iyer's bat fails the test.

They lose Shepherd even before Iyer encounters a ball. Shepherd hauls the ball away to Sai Sudharsan at deep midwicket after Holder hits a strong length. For RCB, make it 126 for 8.

Apr 30, 2026, 9:43 PM

Gill pursues Hazlewood

4 4 0 6 4 6

In a 24-run over, Gill picks Hazlewood away for three fours and two sixes. According to our analytics expert Shiva Jayaraman, this is Hazlewood's most costly over in the IPL. In the 19th over of the innings in 2022, Punjab Kings player Liam Livingstone struck for 24 runs.

In two overs, GT is 36 for 0. Thirty-five of those have been Gill's fault. Gill and Sai are perfect for this aim.

Apr 30, 2026, 9:52 PM

Jitesh's absence

Sai is nicking behind Bhuvneshwar, and Jitesh dives to his left to finish a fantastic catch. However, Jitesh makes a more straightforward catch in the following over to release Buttler on 1. UltraEdge finds a large spike when Hazlewood gloves a scoop, but Jitesh shells it. Patidar's hands are resting on his head. What happens to the subsequent ball? Buttler throws the ball in the 'V' behind the wicket for six after making a lovely scoop connection.

Apr 30, 2026, 9:58 PM

Gill left the powerplay as well

Gill reached 43 off 18 balls, his highest IPL powerplay total, before Kohli caught him at short cover. Gill had come out and given it a hard smack, but Kohli used both hands to hold onto the fast-moving ball. Then he knocks the ball into the turf while glancing at Gill. He is enthusiastic, and RCB believes they are on the right track. Buttler is joined in the centre by Washington.

Apr 30, 2026, 10:06 PM

Buttler starts

4 6 1 1w 6 6 1 1

One over extra cover, two down the ground, and one over mid-off are all excellent shots. Suyash Sharma is put on the back foot as soon as the field limits are released, and Hazlewood is put on the back foot in the final over of the powerplay.

Jos Buttler scored the most sixes of any Englishman in the IPL with 200.

Apr 30, 2026, 10:13 PM

Buttler is stopped by Bhuvneshwar on 39

Buttler jumps too far across, revealing his leg stump to Bhuvneshwar. When the seamer strikes his target, the leg stump is knocked out. Buttler was dismissed for 39 off 19 balls. In the eighth over, GT is 92 for 3. GT is still the 95.47% favourite to win. Bhuvneshwar ends with 4-0-28-3 after bowling four straight.

Apr 30, 2026, 10:17 PM

Was Holder's catch of Patidar fair?

Nagraj Gollapudi writes: There have been questions over whether it was a clean catch under the laws, even if the third umpire was certain and ruled it out. According to the catching law, for a catch to be successful, the fielder must have control over both the ball and his own movement.

The ball may have touched the ground twice if you watch the film. The first time comes when Holder, sprinting to his right from deep square-leg, picks a low catch and then slides. After regaining control over his movements, Holder rises up while holding the ball in his left palm.

According to the law, the TV umpire must decide whether Holder had control over the ball and his own movements prior to the ball touching the turf. It's unclear from TV replays if Holder has total control before the ball is grassed or if it hits the ground as he completes the catch. TV umpires have access to superior views and images, and in this instance, Bhattacharya most likely thought he had sufficient proof that Holder's catch was fair.

Apr 30, 2026, 10:31 PM

The shepherd goes bang bang

Shepherd must take Rasikh Dar's place as RCB's fifth bowler. Patidar holds Krunal Pandya back and adds Shepherd as his fifth bowler, maybe because to Washington's presence. Shahrukh top-edges to Hazlewood at long leg in Shepherd's opening attack. He overturns the on-field not-out judgement by getting Washington lbw in the same over. In their pursuit of 156, GT falters to 111 for 5. For GT, it's now on to Tewatia and Holder.

Apr 30, 2026, 10:50 PM

Holder holes are removed

Suyash throws a googly at Holder. At deep midwicket, he pulls a catch to Padikkal for 12 off 10 balls. With four wickets remaining, his cameo has reduced GT's equation to 15 off 37 balls.

Apr 30, 2026, 11:04 PM

GT prevails!

I'll give you a sneak peek at the report. I appreciate you listening.

Gujarat Titans 158 for 6 (Gill 43, Buttler 39, Bhuvneshwar 3-28, Shepherd 2-30) beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru 155 (Padikkal 40, Kohli 28, Arshad 3-22, Rashid 2-19, Holder 2-29) by four wickets

The Gujarat Titans (GT) bowled the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) out for 155 in Ahmedabad with four balls remaining in their innings with to Jason Holder's five dismissals. Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan were perfect for such a mediocre chase, but GT's weakness was once again revealed when they lost both of their openers in the powerplay. They defeated the reigning champions RCB for the third time in IPL 2026 thanks to cameos from Holder (12 off 10 balls) and their Impact Player Rahul Tewatia.
